yup I read that about the indigo LWB. Infact I put up a post for the same too. But Mr. Tata did not give any dates except for the statement

"the new indica/indigo is a much bigger and better car".

In another interview given in 2004 and published I think in The Hindu/Businessline, Mr Tata had stated that the launch of the new Indica/Indigo would require three years from the design-freezing stage and hence the same would be launched in 2007. Has the launch been advanced to 2006? One hopes Tata has learnt some lessons from the Indica experience and would not launch another car prematurely before the same is perfected.

The Indigo LWB will be a Stretch Verision of the Current Indigo with Twin AC's in the SX Trim. Expect the launch @ the Auto Expo 06 . The Indigo You are refering to might be the New Platform (ala Toyota IMV). Tata's and Pro-activeness dont get along ... too much to ask ...

The Indigo is already over-stretched if I may say so and that is one reason why the car isn't good-looking (2450 MM wheelbase instead of 2400 MM in Indica). Stretching it further will worsen the looks I think.

My gut feeling is that Tata will display the new Indigo, based on the new Indica platform. The new Indica (as well as the Indigo) will probably have a wheelbase of 2500 MM. Remember that Indica was first displayed at Auto Expo 1998 (held at Delhi in January 1998) and then launched exactly a year later in 1999. If the new Indica/Indigo is to be launched in 2007 (as stated by Mr Tata in interview), then Tata can probably display them in January 2006 Auto Expo, just like it did with the Indica. In another recent interview that I came across, Mr Tata referred to the new Indica and Indigo in the present sence (.... they are bigger cars.....) implying thereby that the prototype cars must be ready.

Oh! My little daughter tore that supplemt today. I should probably go home and look at that "piece" of information about Tata's F1 car and the performance Indica you are talking about.
