Whoa! where did that come from.
I dont think Toyota would be foolish to bring in a hatchback for 10lac+

^^ Rest assured Mahesh, it will be the sedan and not the hatch that will be sold here. My question was that if you had news of a Corolla hatch for India, not that if there was a Corolla hatch in production (worldwide) "at all".

Thanks anyway.

Maybe he was thinking of the Euro spec Corolla. Here, in Germany, the Corolla is actually sold as a hatch and not sedan. Even my friend in Dubai has a Corolla "hatch" and not a sedan.

If I am right, in global markets Corolla is a hatchback/estate, whereas Corolla Altis is the sedan variant.

That is not true. Here in US, the sedan is called Corolla only and not Corolla Altis. It might be true for Europe as they have both, Sedan and Hatchback.

This is biggest threat to Skoda Octavia & laura and Cruz. In diesel they are currently leading. Its a Toyota, so must be good i guess but will be costly also for sure @ 15 Lacs.

its coming with 1.4L diesel engine. How would a market accept a car with 1.4L engine priced at 12-13 lakhs

Its something like what Honda did with NHC!
Lower power, with better FE. Hope its something like that!

A higher segment with mileage and reliability (Read : A Non-Skoda)!

If they dos something to the price (Down South), that would be a double whammy!

Merely giving a good mileage (and poor performance) will not be sufficient to strike the right chord with the enthusiasts. But yes , we may have many corolla taxis - ala - Logan .

Though a bit late on this thread, but my bet would be that its Altis only. DSK toyota in Pune confirmed me of the probable Sept launch of the diesel Altis.

do not always go by performance figures (read 1.4TFSI). This one (1.4D) is fixed with a variable turbo with very good low end performance.
Its going to do what the fortuner did to the CRV(although the corolla doesn't need a diesel to do that).
The USP of the Cruze aint going to be Its USP anymore . Corolla will regain its position as the segment leader after the launch.

Sincerely hope so! Definitely on my radar after seeing how it goes!
Only comment is on the price. Toyota needs to control it a bit. I sincerely hope its cheaper Laura/Jetta.
15-16 range OTR for the highest end.

It does not look like that though.

FE is still one the dominating factor in Indian Market and will be the same life long.

No wonder we are discussing many things, but one can certainly vouch that this product will shake the market of 10-15 Lakh range as fortuner did in SUV range. Taxi segment is for sure going to having a hell lot of orders in-line.
