Is the waiting come down so drastically or the dealer is just misinforming my friend to rake in a customer ?

Thanks.

15 months? Or 15 days?

15 months is quite shocking to say the least. Walk away!

15 days is quite possible. Some of the dealers are giving small discounts on the Petrol Swift too!

Increased competition has its benefits.

To answer your question in simple words, Yes the waiting has come down drastically and there are discounts on it too.

I remember when I had gone to book the Swift in 2010, there was a waiting for 5-6 months with absolutely no discounts but now it is delivery within same week worst case along with some discounts on offer.

This change has come thanks to the competition.

Re: End of Swift-Petrol monopoly (waiting periods!)

Every region has certain demand trend, in terms of popular colors, variant etc. The dealers order and stock cars accordingly.

Swift being a popular model is nowadays available almost off the shelf since dealers do tend to keep stock. However in some cases, there may be a waiting period of say 2-5 weeks for off-beat colors or variants and that is fair enough for any car IMO.
