whoa, I didn't check into this thread since it was started and look what I miss.

As mentioned by all, great stuff Ananth. In this age of plug and play performance, we tend to forget the feeling of satisfaction one gets from actually developing his own modifications.

I remember as a kid, I used to see two identical minivans, titled "Kazwa" or something like that. Werent they manufactured by a Kerala based company? Anyone ever bought one?
Also, what were the exact engine specs of the Standard 2000? Was it a 2 litre engine ? (because the name says 2000).

Standard 200 specs:
4 cylinder inline, 83 bhp at 4250 rpm, 4 speed manual gearbox, top speed 145 kmph.

The Kazwa was made by some Raj motors or sumthin.....I remember seeing an Auto India test drive of the car, was a Renault Espace copy.

Kazwa (Kazawa) was made by Raja Motors, Kerala. Only a couple of them were made. It had a HM-Isuzu powertrain.

There are various threads available in our forum about this valiant attempt and the guy who done it.

must definitely count the standard gazel here...indias first attempt at an indigenous car...made from 71 to around 78 i guess...

It was deisgned by nazir hoosein, and based heavily on the standard herald mk3, essentially a 4 door version of the triumph herald. The large front one piece bonnet appeared to be a direct lift from the triumph herald 13/60. the rear end was down right butt-ugly...with michelottis gorgeous understated fins shown the door...

the dash was a comparatively more pleasant and stylish affair...again an indigenous effort. It carried over the steeing wheel and meters from the herald, and the long cranked gear lever from the 10...

the standard herald always had a problem with the rear axle cracking (i suspect that only happened with the post 64 cars, with indian axles...lousy quality) plus it had relatively low ground clearence, both proved to be a big problem with indian roads...so the gazel carried over the rear suspension set up from the standard 10, (which ceased production in 62).

the gazel too had two versions...one with the herald type bonnet (complete front end opens), and the other with the conventionally opening bonnet in 76...this model also had fiat 1100 or padmini door handles...

all other mechanicals were a direct carry over from the herald, i e the bomb proof 948cc engine OHV, producing around 40hp...my 10 has the same engine, has been through 135k MILES, and only now does it require major work since the last 47 years...!

Karl! I had been through this website long time back. It has some really good info.

I have a 1938 Flying Standard Eight Drophead Coupe... The car has been with our family for over half a century now. My dad stripped it apart in the mid eighties with plans to rebuild it but never got the time, and now twenty years later its still disassembled.

Work has been going on it at a snails pace every now and then. The bodywork is almost complete, the frame woodwork is redone, the engine is running but have to work upon the brakes some more. Still have to paint it (will do a midnight black) and do the interiors and canvas roof. Youve really got me into the mood to start working on it again now, Cheers

HI guys,
wanted to know if its worth buying a 1995 Rover Montego 2.0 DL Metallic Maroon Diesel car
2000cc Perkins Prima Engine, 1,06,000 kms done,
14-16 kmpl mileage in city, leather upholstery, stereo with
Pioneer speakers, Power Steering, Power Windows (front 2
doors), Power-assisted SUN ROOF, Central Locking, Sun
Control film, 2 new tyres, No major dents. Engine in
excellent condition but oil leaks due to turbo problem. Turbo
needs to be replaced.

and how much can we pay for the same???
