For people interested in reading about what might be heading towards India for this car, the Hyundai US website gives some information about this car. However, this again seems to be the case where

a) Front looks inspired from Toyota Corolla
b) Rear looks inspired from Chevrolet Optra

Sounds familiar... guess this one is cross between a corolla and Optra while the old Sonata was a cross between the Jaguar and Merc S class :-)

With regards,
Sumit

The Vectra,is the new Accent...and according to TOP GEAR it was the most horrible looking car. From thr pics posted by Amit, the fourth one looks like the back of an Optra(my first glance told me that it was one).

Ugly

Looks are hard to digest. IT reminds me of an EGG! Front is the worst!
Though the engine sounds better!

I am a little confused with what Hyundai is upto. The canadian driver website had the pics which i posted but Hyundai Canada's website still shows the old Accent as the 2006 model.

Yes. This is the car I saw (slightly camouflaged) while on my way back to BLR from Chennai.

Initial thought was this car was sized between Getz and Accent. Yes, I too think this looks smaller than the current accent.

Seeing how they've dropped the prices on the Elantra substantially, I dont see a gap between the Accent and the Elantra for this new sedan.

It HAS to replace the Accent - or else Hyundai will end up screwing up 2 separate product lines (Accent and Elantra) in the process.

Those of you who remember the initial days of the C Segment battles - Hyundai started work on their plant next to Ford 18 months AFTER Ford did, but the Accent rolled out before the Ikon. Perhaps we'll see a repeat with this model??

Look through Hyundai global sales. There is no such model as Verna in their staple.

What hyundai does in Venezuela is market new Accent as Verna. I hope they are not planning to do the same here..

I think the plan will be to retain old Accent as the competitor to Baleno/Indigo/Ikon and introduct new Accent as alternative to Honda City/Ford Fiesta..

No need to get excited Folks, Its all Stale food marketed as global in India

I think what they need to do is a 3 door accent like shown in the post above and then a car priced to compete with the camary which would be even bigger, in US they advertise this car as having more room than the BMW 760..and I am sure it wouldnt cost more than the camry and it looks prety decent. The name of the car is AZERA...

In US it comes at a 25% premium over the GLS V6, so in india I would assume at about 40% premium, so it should be around the camry upper end. which is no bad haah!!

people need options in that segment too..
