"Superlite 1200" - Catheram 7 replica (Worli seaface)

yesterday i was at worli sea face, went down there for a ride and came across a very toyish looking ultra ultra low roadster and an awesome looking car. the name read as superfire 1200 didnt get a chance to speak with the owner but the car was hot!!!!!!grabbed attention left right and center so much so tht even a Porsche carrera owner stopped by to investigate....beat tht! it had a momo steering wheel.clicked 2 pics frm my cell 6630 and took a small start up vid,3gp format...the car sounded quite grunty and had very deep rumble..... the guy left soon coz it was becoming quite a crowd puller i guess....any one else seen this beautiful roadster around? does neone know where it comes frm?

Not a bad job at all....Gautam singhania a couple of these for this ali baug nest and is currently having one built, customized by Japanese parts/engine brought down directly from Japan itself. Its still in the begining stages with the framework ready, the beast should be ready to prowl soon.

This car is a replica of the Catheram 7. It is built by a family friend of ours. His workshop is at Shivaji Park. Saw it the other day when I visted him. I quite liked it . The paint finish is good and so is the alloy wheel combo. It is powered by the Nissan engine which did duty in the 118 NE. Great effort I must say

I have some pictures taken from my digicam. Will post them in this thread

Looks like i am not the only one who tried building a catterham replica. One difference though... I left the project half way due to lack of funds. I used a premier padmini chassis for it though.

response to the caterham spotted

hey guys,

first let me first introduce myself. My name is Rizwan Ali and the caterham we are all discussing here has been built by two other friends of mine and myself. put in a lotta hard work over the last seven months and the workshop at Shivaji park being referred to is owned by another close friend who has helped us immensely and probably without who the project would not be complete the way it is. lot of people who also deserve a lot of credit for it but in no position to divulge any further details.
as far as other postings referring to me not wanting to "rip" with someone is simple. don't intend on goin flat out in my first protoype after 7 months of hard work. its still a work in progress and contrary to what was said, me and all those who worked on her are very proud of the work.
besides, the name is, Superlite 1200. and Viper my friend....we need to talk.
cheers

PS: its a sparco steering and thanks for appreciating the work guys.
let me also clarify, no time trials have been carried out on her and the use of a 1.8L engine is under vast speculation. have other options which are being worked on.
