Do I see cross ply tires? Why no heated winshield in the rear glass?

Tubeless tyres standard on the Alto K10. No rear wash/wipe defogger ala AStar. Don't expect features on Alto K10 if same is not available on the AStar Vxi. The only additional feature from what I have gathered so far is the tacho on the Alto Vxi.

What about the driver side seat comfort and thigh support, is it same small and narrow as it is in Maruti 800 and old Alto or any changes in that.

I haven't seen the car so no idea regarding that. Whatever I have typed in, is the information I have gathered from the research I have done on the net. The front seats now come with integrated headrests. Some website claims that there is a 50 mm improvement in rear legroom due to this. Don't know how far this is true.

What is confirmed is that there will be 2 variants - Lxi and Vxi. What is not confirmed is whether there will be a 2 and half variant - Vxi ABS. The OVRMs are a straight lift fro the old Vx 1.1 and are internally adjustable. The K10 gets the AStar's steering wheel and the Vxi variant gets the usual bells and whistles that are standard fare on Marutis. Launch is expected to happen in the first week of August.

Well, this launch is 'heaven wrapped in awesome' for new buyers, but, I plan to keep mine if Maruti doesn't offer an upgrade scheme to current owners. Kseries Alto is very good to be honest, but the 'all new Swift 2011' seems to be the way forward for me (as an owner).

Anyone know the weight of the K10B vs F8. The blogs mention that the K10 Alto is 50Kg heavier. And that both puzzles and scares me.

Alto K10 LXi is 7Kg and VXi is 50Kg heavier than current LXi. Expected launch date: Aug 5.

Relieved to know that, but still puzzled. Isn't the K series lighter than the iron block F series?

K-series is lighter, but the bigger body (extra length of 125mm) adds to the total weight, I think.

Wheelbase being the same, increase of weight in the overhang!

Also what could there be in the Vx to account for 43 Kgs?

Now I am confused, how can the length increase. I thought it was the same platform as the current Alto. Is there something that I am missing.

K10 is wider. Engine bay length increased to accommodate that. Wheelbase remains the same.

Err! isn't fabia a small car with a bloated price and pathetic engine.

BTW this thread is to discuss Alto with a new look/engine
