my take
punto
i20=polo
jazz
beat
fabia = palio
swift
ritz = figo
i10
Non enthusiasts have the opposite view though.even my educated colleague thinks punto looks like a mouse!lol
i20 with new grill is smart but side profile is uninspiring.
polo is perfectly penned but is not a breakout design like the beat.
jazz does lack a bit of road presence.

This is a hilarious statement that explains the common-ness of such cars. Seriously, I don't want to drive any such car.

And yes, too many of them on the road has actually deteriorated it's road presence badly.

Here are my picks

First, the best looking -

1. Chevy CRV

This car just bowled me over her when I first saw her. No matter on what angle you look at this car, it looks the best. This car, according to me, has an ageless design

2. Fiat Punto

This is the only car which made my heart skip a beat when it was fast approaching from the other side in a highway.

3. Hyundai i20

The first good looking car from the Hyundai stable in India. Curves and flowing contours makes this car stand out. Head lights could have been better.

4. Fiat Palio

A red or an yellow Palio GTX still turns heads.

5. Skoda Fabia

This car doesn't look as good as the other four, but it has a classy feel, a rich feel, something like a well built man with not so good looking face.

Now, the worst looking

11. Maruti Ritz

This car is a plain eye-shore. Don't want to describe anything further.

10. Maruti Swift

This car was launched when there were not many hatches around. When I first saw her, my reaction was, "Man, how can someone design such a car!!". Though it came in as an revolutionary design, to me it looked like a turtle. Now seeing so many of them on roads, I kinda got used to it. But doesn't mean I like it.

9. Maruti WagonR

When I first saw this car, I thought this is the car that is going to replace Share Autos and Private Autos in future India. So that says it all.

8. Maruti Astar

When I first saw this car, fortunately I had to see it from the front. Thought that finally a good looking car from Maruti, but when I went and looked at the back, you know what I would have thougt. Shame on 21st century automobile designers.

7. Hyundai Santro

The first hatchback to look as if it was brought from alien space.

6. Maruti Estillo

A totally inproportionate car. Looks bad from all angles. The design of the rear 3quarter glass was again just a shame on 21st century designers

Now the neutral ones-

Hyundai i10 & Getz

The designers had played safe by keeping it simple. These cars neither makes you sulk nor brings a "WoW".

Its so very sad to see Swift take so much criticism just because its one of the largest selling hatch amongst the others listed.

Looks are subjective and to each his own but that doesn't give people the right to defame other hatchs.

And did I anywhere read in the original post that we were supposed to justify or explain the rankings given by us??!!

Let's also bring in the best modded Punto, Fabia, i20 and their likes against the best modded Swifts!!!

Palio
Fabia
Beat
Figo
Vista
i10

I would not rate ritz, santro and Spark ; it looks horrendous to me
