Hi James,

I am not at all familiar with paypal.

Won't you want to see the car?

Can you also share with me where you are from?

He skirts the issue of where he is from.

Default Anatomy of a Fraud (wrap up)

I know this is turning out to quite long. However I am posting this so that it could help others. I consider myself to be at the frontiers of technology, but still such a low tech scam fooled me. Mods: Please decide if you want to remove my posts.

Anyway next day I end up with some 9 messages in my inbox. All the emails are from a spoofed address which is actually, Some messages even say that I am 100% protected by PayPal. I also receive some messages from another spoofed address of a shipping company, including one from the man himself.

I just want to inform you that i have just completed the payment and i
hope you must have been notified in your email about the payment i
made through PayPal, you can check your e-mail for confirmation of
payment, I have just make the payment of $6,662.04 USD,i have decided
to add the amount of $1,550.00 USD which i paid through paypal, So
please i will like you to help me wire the sum of $1,450.00 USD to the
agent via western union so he can be able to come for the pick up and
also paypal said they won't release the funds until they get the
western union information from you due to the fact that i emailed them
about the excess payment i made.i will need you to send the $1,450.00
USD to the pick up agent Headquarters where they normally confirm any
commission payment to via western union money transfer(this can be
done from the post office,or online at Western Union ? Money Transfer ? Quick Collect ? Send Money Online - Send Cash) as they
usually have a western union agent there) , i added extra $100USD to
cover the western union charges which shouldn't be more that 60-75USD
but just to be sure i added $100USD, Here is the pick up agent
Headquarter info needed to get the money sent through western union
money transfer

Marko Collins
Flat 7, Lowther house,
Clarissa Street
London,E8 4HS
United Kingdom

Please kindly email the necessary details to paypal the mtcn which you
will be given at the western union after the $1,450.00 USD has been
sent as well as the sender's name and address used to send the money
through western union,so i can forward it to paypal or better still
you can email it to paypal direct.
One of the reasons why I feel this scam works is because NOBODY responds. Neither PayPal nor Craigslist responded.

I had first checked on Team BHP for any issues related to Craigslist, but didn't get any search results here either.
