re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

Certain variants of the Ford Fusion Europe Spec do come with AWD/4WD and the nice TDCi engine as well. Its cousin is the Ford EcoSport which some of us are hoping will turn up here eventually.
Wish this option had been present here as well, but I guess the price would have gone mad and sales would have been poor. Sad.

Terribly Off topic but still which is the world LCV/ICV? The 407 successor?

That is correct. But not sure whether LCV and ICV are 2 platforms or just one. We could expect the same pattern TM follows with cars here..New World LCV selling along with old 407.sorry!

It may be disappointing but the launch appears to be pushed further (from mid-year) towards Diwali.

I am yet to understand, isnt XYLO already a 8 seater, how come its getting shorter and getting a 7 seats.
Can smeone explain. Moreover, is the chassis structure changing too.

The eight seater xylo is with 3 rows of front facing seats like the scorpio, innova, sumo grande. 1st row you have the driver and passenger, 2nd row you have 3 adults then 3 more adults at the 3rd row seat facing forward.

The mini xylo will have 2 front facing rows of seats. The driver and passenger in the 1st row, then 3 adults in the 2nd row of seats. Then at the back you will have 2 side facing seats like in the safari, Bolero, Sumo victa. They are also called jump seats. And hence the 5+2 seating configuration rather than a 7 seater as the last 2 seats are not considered full seats.

Well. As I have reliably gathered, Mini-Xylo is going to come with 4 cylinder 1500cc diesel engine (not a 3cylinder one as is rumored).

Is it the same engine used in Logan ? What other engine does Mahindra have which is 1500 cc?

A 4 cylinder 1500cc motor! thats great news! I have never been a fan of 3 cylinder engines due to their lack of low end grunt and vibration. Looks like mahindra is going to have another successful product on their hands once the mini xylo comes out.

Phew, the only serious drawback of the mini-Xylo addressed.
@ajay0612- you sure about the info?

But that also means a new, untested engine, if it is not from the Renault stable. Shaving off a cylinder from the mEagle engine still means a tried and tested motor.

re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

On saturday visited Mahindra showroom at my home town.
SR at showroom was very keen on XYLO-CS. He confirmed following two things:

1. It will be having 4 cylinder 1500CC motor. This will not be dCI of Logan, rather it will be bored in replica of XYLO-D2 engine.

2. It will be launched in June. They have already got target of 60 XYLO-CS. Actually I missed to confirm duration for target . 60 per month/quarter/year?

If they were coming out with a new engine then what you say would be very very true and i would agree with you 110%. But I somehow doubt that mahindra will launch a new engine in a budget product. Especially considering the news about the price (around 5 lakhs).

My guess is and the most logical step for mahindra to take would be to alter an existing motor to decrease the displacement. This can easily be done by tinkering with the bore and stroke size without having to reduce the number of cylinders. All the have to do is to reduce 250c.c's on each cylinder and that to my knowledge is quite possible by reducing the size of the cylinder bore and also changing the size of the stroke length.

My personal opinion and the most cost effective solution for mahindra would be (as u have suggested) to use the logan's 1.5 L engine thereby taking advantage of economies of scale with 2 models now using the same engine. And i guess this is what will happen in the end. But no point fueling speculation. We will just have to wait and watch i guess

re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

dci from Renault Stable is ruled out; as I understand M&M has rights to use this engine only in Logan. Also if I use simple maths and expoliate what can be the mileage expected from the scaled down engine of XYLO D2 ( 12 Kmpl) then the result comes to around 17 Kmpl. Which is Excellent!

I only Hope that Gear Rattling is fixed in this new Engine / Gear Tranny Combo (Aka Current Generation Xylo)
