Re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

Isnt it good that they are testing the car thoroughly? Better to release a perfect glitch free car than to launch a car now and make the initial batch of customers the guinea pigs.

Read Pawan Goenka's interview somewhere that Mahindra is planning 6 launches in this year, the Mini Xylo will be the first one to be launched and the slated launch is in couple of months.

1st BiTurbo Engine in India

How would a Bi-Turbo 1.5Liter, 3 Cylinder diesel sound on the compact-Xylo? (may be I was dreaming, may be not, but my little parakeet dont lie ;-) )

Ahem, dreaming went on to see a 4Cyl transversely mounted for export models

SOP - Start of production is aug-2012...

Oh, and I guess Garret lovers will be Disappointed! Heard of this?

If i am not wrong...You mean that

Two version of engines for Mini XYLO.

1) Bi-Turbo 1.5Liter, 3 Cylinder diesel (Domestic market)
2) 4 Cylinder diesel transversely mounted for export models.

BTW what is a Bi-Turbo ?

Re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

Twin turbo. dont know why my birdie called it biturbo, but its basically a 2 stage turbo, 1 after the other, more like a in-line twin turbo (both boost at differnt RPMs for zero turbo lag)

Cheers
Then why were XUV test Mules called "W201". Ideally they should have been "X201".

Did anyone notice a pattern with sub 10 lac SUVs? All of them are delaying launches Duster, Mini Xylo, Eco-sport and even the Storme. Is there something that companes ae "geniunely" stuck on?

TEL is BorgWarner's JV partner in India for Turbochargers. Hardly a disappointment, me thinks. Not sure of Market shares but I guess with a lot of Tata & M&M pascar\UV\SUV business they are probably doing pretty well in the Indian Market.

Could it be this one ?
R2S Turbocharger

Turbo Energy Ltd (TEL) - Turbocharger Technology

God forbid if this one would fail.

I read that Garrett is now Honeywell.

Transversely mounted !!!
Does that mean the mini Xylo is FWD...
That would take away one of the two important appealing factors for me, the other being the diesel heart.

Why would they need to mount the engine tranversely for a 4cyl version? IMO the front portion is the same as a normal Xylo and can easily accomodate Xylo's engine in the same loyout (Longitudinal).

That's what's baffling me also.
Either it's for an all new model, or the mini Xylo is not really based on the Xylo(pics beg to differ)

Re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

TEL is the one mostly used by Tata, infact Manza drives on TEL turbo, found out during some issues that was observed in my car long back, nothing to do with the turbo.

Coming to the mini-xylo, I think this will be a hit as it looks quite practicle in terms of space and hopefully pricing. Looking at the ground clearance, it also looks like a perfect car to take to leh for those who cant buy a full blown SUV and also avoid the fear of damaging the underbelly

What if the export model is a monocoque rather than BOF like the Xylo and the mini-Xylo ?

Since Mahindra are known to be developing a sub-4m monocoque SUV, it could be the S101 or S102 from

Thanks for posting the link, me was too lazy to search and post it
Wasn't the S101 and S102 the ones that were called as 'pocket rockets'? Rumoured to have some 140BHP from their 3 pot?
But it's only the mini Xylo that's seen testing, where are the S101/102 and the new Scorpio?

Re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

Spotted the mini Xylo being carried in Eicher van near Kudligi (NH13).
I was driving back from Hospet to Bangalore and spotted this white mini Xylo being carried in the eicher van going towards Chitradurga, it was partially camouflaged.

Observed that it had tinted glass all around and spare wheel was an alloy one mounted on rear tail gate.

Sorry about the poor quality picture, it was from mobile camera and besides it was raining.
