@ Vina

Thanks for your inputs too and I concur with you on your analysis. To be honest, my technical understanding is limited to reading on forums like these and I have learnt a few things today from your posts.

Coming back to the mini Xylo, I have my doubts regarding the leg room, especially so that the length is less than 4m. I feel that it would be better to have a decent leg room and a 5 passenger configuration rather than a 5+2 configuration with constrained leg room.

No problem Badri, and by the way if you hadn't mentioned the excellent thread I wouldn't have learnt anything at all !

I am assuming that in 5+2 the 2 is optional. Is that not so?

I hope that the initial design is based on a 5 seater configuration and not on a 5+2 seater. It will be better if the 5 seater has more legroom rather than just the increased boot space by removing the jump seats.

I wish they could do some sheet metal changes, but that looks highly unlikely! It could have been a looker!!

WOW !! Now this adjusted pic looks much better !! The ugly grill is removed and the car gets a very mature and planted look. Absolutely wonderful job. Wish M&M takes a look at the renderings here on t-bhp and takes some cues.

Edit: Could not stop admiring the beauty. Its looks so SUV'sh now - a proper tough guy with "Dont mess with me" looks. "Lovely" to say the least.

Can we compare this too Suzuki Jimy? Rav4? etc? if yes. Will it open a new segment to bring more brands in?

Jimny maybe, if at all Maruti decides to launch the 4 door Jimny here.
But not Rav4,its grown up and would be priced out of contention.
From the Toyota stable it would be the Toyota Rush aka present gen Daihatsu Terios.
Hope that the mini SUV market would grow bigger than the Daihatsu Terios turned Chinese turned Premier Rio.

Indeed, this looks fabulous. But, I guess Mahindra would want to keep as many similar parts as possible. Well, they can always launch a facelifted Xylo!

re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

The shortened Xylo (especially with the 5+2 option) config is a mouth watering idea. They have managed to improve the frontal looks of the trailer single cab version of the Xylo so they may give those to the shortened Xylo as well and it the overall stance would improve.

This somehow cannot be seen as a jimmy replacement as it has been designed more to be an MUV than a mini SUV. The suspension too is designed accordingly.

That said it would be creating a totally new segment for the price at which it is likely to land in and somehow with the huge rear portion reduced it should really look a lot more tempting.

This is one plastic surgery and tuck up job worth waiting for. It could even open up a new 6 seater segment in the TT segment

Waiting for this one for some time now, have any target launch dates been announced yet?
Also, I hope this one does not land up in the taxi market (at least immediately!)

re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

Just called both showroom in pune

Silver Jubilee Motors Ltd. (Moledina Road, Camp) :- Phone call not received.

Sahyadri Motors Pvt. Ltd. (Garware Blgd, Deccan Jimghana,) :- Call received.

They don't have any idea regarding the new lunch. Very bad attitude while answering the call and immediately cut the call. He don't have patient to listen my query.

What a great attitude.

Sir yeh to hai kahaani ghar ghar ki, or should I say har showroom ki.
I keep getting calls from showrooms asking for final decisions about cars, but as soon as I say TD they are in a hurry to disconnect the call.
Last week Crystal Honda delivered my car to me after servicing with 4 nails in the rear left tyre. A lady called for feedback on the servicing, but as soon as I mentioned this she said Ok thanks and disconnected the call without giving me an opportunity to say anything. 'Someone is gonna getta hurt real bad' next time at Crystal!!
And this is for calls they make; I can only imagine this will be worse when we call them.
Maybe a bit here but I think customer service standards have dropped alarmingly in the last few years

Wow! Now thats a looker!

Saw the Mahindra Genio in person few days back and it looked significantly smaller than the Xylo in terms of height. Infact, it had a very planted stance to it, unlike the tall xylo. Hopefully, the smaller version will also have a reduced height to go with the reduced length!
