re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

If what Motorbeam says is true then it's good news. Was always been apprehensive about the 3pot, now it seems they gone the other route and procuring the wonderful 1.5DCi. It being the driveability king and also gives fantastic FE.

SPOTTED!

I spotted the sub-4 meter xylo on FC road, pune. It was heavily camouflaged. The car looks too puny from the sides to say the least. The interior was exactly the same as the original car.

Could not take pics as i was riding a bike.

Looking forward to it, what will be interesting to see is how they price the car in the market. The Renault 1.5 DCI is a tired and tested one and has performed well. Waiting for the launch to test drive the car.Surely the new car market this year is getting exciting.

I was not at all exited about this car until the recent face lift they did to Xylo. If they carry over those changes in this baby Xylo, IMO it would look good.

What you say guys?

re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

I was cycling in OMR, Chennai at around 10.00am on the 25th of February, when I spotted a white safari look-alike parked on the road. Having read a lot about folks managing to scoop pictures of vehicles being tested, I eagerly went to the vehicle to take a closer look. It then struck me that I had left my mobile at my home. The vehicle was indeed the mini xylo.

The driver, upon knowing that I did not have a camera with me, opened up a nice conversation. It seems their mandate is to test around 100-150km during the weekend in all possible terrain (dirt roads, no roads, stones, tar roads). He refused to revel the specifications of the vehicle. It has 5 seats with decent boot space. Think of this as a crunched version of the first generation tata safari. Further, my friend seemed to think that this is a non-tin-box version of wagon-r (A bit taller, wider and nicer to look at !!) All-in-all the vehicle looked good in white. The driver was nice enough to let me sit in the driver seat. The view was quite good. While the bonnet clearance was not as good as my bolero, it was still passable. However, I think that if you are above 5.6 (I am 5.11), you may have a few niggles in adjusting into the driver seat. Further, the rear seat space behind the driver disappears when a tall person sits in it.

The vehicle had no marking of any sort. The only give-away was the ubiquitous "M" in the front grille. The driver did not have any clear idea of an approximate release date. He did mention that they did the same kind of tests for the xylo and xuv and it took approximately 6 months between the tests and the vehicle release. Shyam

re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

This car is what many people want, Most of the time SUVs like Safari and scorpio are used by 2 -3 people, there isn't any need for a seven seater for most nuclear families.

Most people having 5-6 lacs budget go in for hatchback as there is no SUV available at that range. They would surely shift to a compact SUV if it is available in that price range provided it is reliable. A compact SUV would be more spacious than a hatch with a bigger boot space and higher ground clearance. It would also serve aspiration needs.

Mini Xylo would suit the bill and I wish Mahindra comes out with a reliable engine for this and it is niggle free product. That would surely make other manufacturers sit up and take notice.

Will the new mini Xylo be called X300, because as per attached pic, on the rear glass on the top, there is a small label as X300 .I like the name X300 , Mahindra might be trying to use the goodwill recieved through X500 . Image source : Motoroids.com

PS:: You should have added watermarks! Have "reported post" - Mods shall help.

Is that guy small or the car BIG? Who called it a mini!! I am slightly getting doubtful over the dynamics of this car. With the longer wheelbase Xylo known to be bouncy, this short & tall car...!

And I guess we can safely assume the car to look like the facelifted Xylo! the vertical slats in the bumper looks quite like the facelifted Xylo!

Edit:: Was comparing the pic with the old Xylo & face-lifted one. The bumper edges right above the grill is straight like face-lifted Xylo and the bonnet is flat on the sides too like the face-lifted Xylo!

re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

These are the first pics that show Xylo-mini relative to Innova and Scorpio. It looks huge and nothing like an overgrown B-segment. Mahindra must have kept xylo dimensions intact and just chopped off rear overhang. I think this will be a massive hit.

re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

The tag "Mini Xylo" is becoming quite misleading for this product, as this hardly resembles a mini MUV !

If the model no. X300 for this is is true, then this could be more aptly called a "Mini XUV"

This is an exciting mini SUV, for sure

re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

Like everyone said, it looks quite big in the pic, especially alongside the Innova.

I am happy that it is coming with the facelifted nose. It should get atleast two engine options, one basic & less powerful (90hp?) but highly efficient one for the economy & budget conscious segment & another powerful & refined (120 hp?) for the performance savvy customers.

The 120 hp one can compete with the Punto & i20! What remains to be seen is how M&M tunes the suspension of this one. I would like a softer & more comfortable suspension which can gobble up potholes. I dont want a firm & harsh suspension which are more apt for low slung hatches like Swift & Punto.

Hi,

If you look at the second picture posted by nitinralli, we can see through the glass, that the number is X 302. So this could be a different variant?
