Is that guy small or the car BIG? Who called it a mini!! I am slightly getting doubtful over the dynamics of this car. With the longer wheelbase Xylo known to be bouncy, this short & tall car...!

And I guess we can safely assume the car to look like the facelifted Xylo! the vertical slats in the bumper looks quite like the facelifted Xylo!

Edit:: Was comparing the pic with the old Xylo & face-lifted one. The bumper edges right above the grill is straight like face-lifted Xylo and the bonnet is flat on the sides too like the face-lifted Xylo!
Well the guy was a normal height person. This mini looked exactly the same height of Xylo. If you look closely, its the same height as Scorpio at back. So i guess everything would remain the same as Xylo except for the length.

IMO the size comparison cannot be done using the two pics as the Scorpio and Innova in the pics are in the backside and a picture in 2D cannot reveal the exact distance between the MiniXylo and the other cars.

For eg: the size of the wheels will give you a better picture.

+1. There is nothing 'mini' about this Xylo. Just a chopped rear. Looks like all the panels except the rear portion is same as Xylo. May be the wheels might be smaller than the Xylo. Moreover, if MM makes any change to the panels (as in doors, roof, fenders, hood) then why would they call it a Xylo?

Re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

I have a question:

- Does the production capacity of this product get affected by XUV?
- If not then why is M&M delaying this launch? Again they will loose that early advantage.
- On second thought, may be the advantage is not that obvious because the prices point of the mini does not overlap with Duster/Ecosport

Forget about it. Mahindra has its hands full with the success of XUV and upgraded Xylo. Most likely it will be launched 6 months down the line from now. As you have waited for so long it will be prudent to wait little more for the launch of Maruti Ertiga (Tentative launch - First half of April).

In another thread was a link to an interview Pawan Goenka, where he talked about a Diwali launch.
He preferred to call it Min SUV and not mini-Xylo.

Yes. But now mini-Xylo is out of my list as my existing car is almost limping and it is impossible for me to wait so long :-(. I will buy whichever is launched first (i.e. Ertiga or Safari Storme).

AFAIK, the Xylo (and hence its derivatives) are made in the Nasik plant. The XUV is made in the Chakan plant in Pune. So, capacity should not be a problem.

And as for the first mover advantage, guess we are over-estimating it. If there is one company who knows how to sell SUVs in India, its Mahindra (and Tata to a certain extent). Both Renault (with Duster) and Ford (with Ecosport) would be selling SUVs for the first time.

Plus, with both Duster and Ecosport scheduled for late 2012 launch, the Compact Xylo should not have too much trouble.

But full agree with you on the pricing - there may not be an overlap in the pricing. This should act as a further impetus for launching when the product if fully ready and not half-cooked.

Looks like MnM is going all out to ensure that the mini-Xylo does not get branded with a 'Xylo' tag. Pawan Goenka corrected a journalist by calling it a Mini-SUV (as already pointed earlier).

Re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

Today I could see the mini-xylo (or mini XUV now) first zooming past my bus (as it happened many times before). Then after some time I could catch it standing on roadside so I could see it camouflaged (now-a-days in black and white checkered pattern).

After taking a look at it I didn't feel like taking pics of it as most of the things (external looks) are the same as we have seen in scoop pics before. couple of things I could see - first the grill was similar to the old looks of the xylo, secondly it was shod with 15 inch wheels (R-15 tyres).

One guess from what seems to be the second phase of testing the 'similar looking vehicle' - that there might be some changes under the hood - engine - which need to be tested again.

small chat with the person with the vehicle - with rough use also vehicle gives good mileage and we need to wait for 'at least' two months for launch.

First impression after looking at the vehicle in flesh - it doesn't appear as big as Xylo not as small as Wagon R. Rather we can't compare it with WagonR. So dear freinds Happy Waiting again!

Re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

hello mates!,

I had a long chat with one of the CEO's of a mahindra dealership in my locality,
enlightened to know that i had a lot of info about this upcoming mini xylo, he showed interest and took the talks further, to reveal that whatever the designs are shown out here will actually not be in the production line and they are just for the testing purposes, they want to keep the looks as asurprise, as they have learnt from the reaction they have received from people coming to buy the XUV.

Considering that part, they would like to design it more contemprory than functional.

keeping my fingers crossed! and expecting for a new wonderful design.

Cheerio

Re: Mahindra Testing sub-4 meter XYLO. EDIT : Fresh PICS on Page 38

Hello Guys,

A friend of mine spotted this Test Mule on his way to Shirdi near Igatpuri.
I assume the car is almost ready to be launched since the person driving the car is from the upper management team.
Notice that the model has alloys and not the regular wheels which are used during testing. The new front grille can also be seen.
My friend also mentioned that the spare wheel is mounted at the rear to give a distinct SUV look.
