Plus the salesman that I spoke to in metro said that they were accepting bookings for the three variants only and would confirm sxi availability tomorrow.

Spot on Samurai.

Also, as per me perhaps the best bet in all this Mayhem is the FUSION. With the hundred thousand odd discount the top variant is at Seven hundred thousand and thats mouth watering. 14 inch alloys , 1.6 duratec et all......

Why did Ford not mention the 1.4 petrol earlier ?

As recently as 25th October, Arvind Mathew mentioned that the Fiesta would be available in 2 versions .. 1.6 petrol and 1.4 diesel ..

Price wars

The biggest shakeup that ford has done as per yours truly is to make Hyundai and Maruthi Sit up and Revamp its pricing startegy.

The whispers from hyundai were that the new Accent was going to be launched in Dec or early Jan. With the current Acc Crdi at 825, GLX at 730. Hyundai will have serious thinking to do on the price.

Maruthi with the Baleno at Lxi 625000 and the Vxi at 730000 (not sure) may get run over by the ford.

Let the (price) games begin....

NOTE: All price OTR Bangalore

by the way,

got a call from wasan ford. he did not have prices for the fiestas. said he will have them only by late today.

and oh..

he quoted me 5.97L for the Ikon Flair (1.3) (OTR Mumbai)
yeah right !!!

can anyone venture an educated guess as to what will happen to the Ikon Flair pricing in the midst of all this blood letting ?

Are those OTR ? Bangalore ex-showroom prices are 5.83 & 6.65 for LXi and VXi - and then there are discounts.

And the Fiesta prices are mentioned as ex-showroom in the news articles, so adding the insurance and regn, the 1.6 ZXi (6.29L) should be touching 7L OTR - there'll surely be no discounts for a while.

Yes, the Baleno is poised to take a beating. Unless MUL drops Baleno prices again. LXi for 5.5 exshowroom, VXi for 6.2 ... even then they'll get run over. I guess they are aware of this and hence are focussing on the BEEEEEEG Esteeem !!

On paper thats more or less equivalent to the Indigo Petrol , though it should be more refined.

According to Metro Ford, Bangalore On Road prices for Fiesta are:

1.4 Petrol EXI- 6,29,000/-
1.4 Diesel- 8,05,000/-
1.6 PetrolSXI- 7,20,756/-
1.6 PetrolZxi- 7,60,854/-

DZxi has ABS etc. Diesel comes with an option for ABS at 30k extra.

Confirmation of the Price

http://www.business-standard.com/bso...O&autono=12259 and

http://in.rediff.com/money/2005/nov/15ford.htm

Quote:
Ford today announced the prices of its new sedan Fiesta and its variants. The price of the entry-level, 1.4 litre petrol version has been pegged at Rs 5.59 lakh.

The other two petrol variants - 1.6 litre ZXI and 1.6 litre SXI - are priced at Rs 6.29 lakh and Rs 6.89 lakh, respectively.

The 1.4 litre common rail diesel variant would be available at Rs 6.99 lakh, an official release said
.

The prices seem to be exshowroom delhi.

Anyone knows what the difference is b/w the 1.6 zxi and Sxi. If the 1.6 Zxi is decently equipped it seems very VFM at 6.3L exshowroom..

Hmmm.. I wonder if Ford can manage this cost structure..This would assume volumes of 3-4K per month. Has Ford bitten more than it can chew?

Suddenly NHC and Optra(among others) seem to be overpriced(massively)! Maybe the much anticipated C segmant shakeup is at hand
