Ford Fiesta Launched

The all new awaiting car from ford is launched on Tuesday in New Delhi by CEO William Clay Ford Jr.

Ford Fiesta would be competing with massively successful models like Honda City, Toyota Corolla, Chevrolet Optra and Hyundai Elantra.

The model has not been released in any market of Ford in the world and Ford is launching this product especially for the Indian and Chinese market. The car will be available in two variants— 1.6 petrol and 1.4 turbo diesel.

The 1.4 turbo diesel is a TDCi ((Turbo Direct Common Rail injection) unit developed by Ford in collaboration with PSA (Peugeot and Citroën) and develops an average 67bhp. The diesel variant is expected to give Accent CRDi a run for its money.

As far as I know, they haven't revealed the pricing officially as yet... but I have heard from Ford dealers here in chennai (when I was test driving the Ikon) that it would be likely priced between 8 and 9 Lakhs..

Ford Fiesta is a replacement for Ford Ikon, and will not compete with Optra / Corolla, which was to be done by Ford Focus....

Ummmm... H Elantra isn't much to be called a successful model...

Anywayz, me thinks that the meager 67bhp diesel wouldn't come close when comapred to Indigo's 70bhp Turbo intercooler.... And imagine when they come out with the Dicor'd Indigo....

On Paper BHP figures dont reflect on road for TATA vehicles!!
'coz the 70 BHP Ikon Flair is a far better bet when compared to the 85 BHP Indigo Petrol. On a drag the Ikon may loose but in real world conditions the Ikon is a better performer.

Perfect Gearing will work wonders for a Car's performance..Ford masters this Skill and TATA still hasn't!

if that's the case, then expect the fiesta diesel to be priced around 7-7.5 lacs....but i doubt if it could compete with the accent, though- the latter has an 81 bhp engine, and what it lacks (somewhat) in refinement, more than makes up for in the stonking performance that it delivers.. in a shootout, i'm betting on the hyundai to smoke the ford....on the sales front, it could be a different story, though...
