If I remember right the Viceroy was offered as PAL Peugeout, and was fitted with the TUD5 diesel engine.

Supremely brilliant to see so many NE`s together. A close friend of mine had an NE for a long time and I remember that car well. The bit that intrigues me the most about it was how the bonnet opened.

Whats the condition of the car in terms of rust? How are the tires. Are papers in proper order and uptodate? More details would help, Pictures would be great.

On a recent web search I found out one sketch of a possible mod on fiat 124, I found it looking very cool, here is the picture and site address. Let this be of inspiration to our fellow members.

With a very heavy heart, I have decided to part away with my 2nd 118 NE (Maroon). Details of the car are available in the classifieds section of Team-bhp under Sendan section.

Karthik,

We will miss your Maroon NE 3410.

It was a pleasure to have 3410 participate in the launch of NECB.

I understand how it feels GreenDay. I dont really have a choice as of now. I expect the Palio Stile to come home and join my 118 NE and the other Fiats by early October.

But again, I would appreciate if you can convince the new owner of 3410 to bring her to all the NECB meets.

Yes sir, I would give the 3410 to anyone who would know the value of classic cars and loves the 118NE. I wouldnt give it to anyone who just wants a car that comes cheap in terms of money.

Good to hear that funkykar. I am looking forward for your Palio Stile 1.3 SDX to come home soon.

This is sad that the Palio is going to join the legends list like other FIATs. I still wish Palio's production shouldn't have stopped so soon.

My father was the first person to drive the first Palio out of showroom and drive it on Bangalore roads

Go Green

Sweet memories of 118 NE

Years back, I was having a 118 NE. Years later, even now, what I could not forget is the 'smoothest' gear shift, I ever experienced. I loved the gearshift of 118 NE so much that sometimes I used to do the shifting when it was not needed !!!
Premier had plans of launching the car's diesel version with TUD5. (The diesel version 138D was also owned by me for some time, the engine was very noisy and oil leak was a problem). But, I think the TUD5 version was never launched. I may please be corrected, if I am wrong.
The problematic area of 118 NE was the body rust. My car I had to sell because of the excessive rusting only. The rusting was coming from the inside-out of the body. What you first notice is a small bubble over some body part. if you open that, you will find a big hole below it leading to an area with metal non-existing !!!
The company was well aware of the rusting problem and VICEROY was a solution to the problem. VICEROY was having better processing techniques to arrest the body rusting. The number of VICEROYS sold are also a FEW only. I wanted to buy a good piece in the second hand market, even now, If I get a good VICEROY, I will buy it. Just the feeling of that gearshift is sufficient for the money I pay.

KMohanan, Glad to know that you had a NE. I recently bought the NE almost similar to that of Chethan's NE which is posted by Funkykar. I am also now a member of 118 NE Club Bengaluru [NECB].

I would appreciate if you could upload some of your NE's pics, if you have any..
