that doesnt make lancer inferior to the competition, doesit?
that is correct...thats why my second car was not a fiat car.... but ASS does provide peace of mind and is very important for me

yeah true.

But I just wonder that its better to reduces the prices in the long term than the way baleno's pricing was played with. two years ago it was costing around 8+.

I think MItsubishi has been a bit late in playing the pricing game.

Have the new balenos made it to the showroom?? I dont see them on the website yet, or on the news.

I read an article about them though.

In that case I think lancer is as good a buy as the balenos coz of the less features on the baleno and the discounts on the lancer.

New Balenos have hit the showrooms and the streets but really aren't different from the regular baleno.

I finally found a picture on the forums. I must say lancer still looks better.

climate control is a boon though.

Am waiting for the lancer update that HM has promised is going to make it look like a completely new car. My guess is that they will make it a evo lookalike and name it ralliart as they have done here in Canada. Doesnt look a bad strategy to me.

Are There More Lancers In South?

Hai,

While driving to Kerala for holidays from North, I found a large number of Lancers after crossing into Kerala (we spend a week driving in Kerala). There were more on the Tamil Nadu and Karnataka roads also compared to Baleno's.

Is it a coincidance or is it that Lancers are sold more than Balenos in South? Comparitively, you would find lesser lancers in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajastan or North......... there would be more Balenos?

----- Ramky.

Lancer was perceived as a status symbol for quite a long time, till the new breed of mid-level sedans arrived in Kerala. As it had an aspirational value, it also found a lot of takers when they dropped the price. Baleno, on the other hand, was seen as a large car from a company that knew only to make 800cc compacts, which was way overpriced. By the time Suzuki decided to drop prices, the car had already obtained a dated look! However, it sells more these days than it did a couple of years ago!

A majority of the lancers you saw in kerala are diesels. No diesel car has been as refined and silent as the lancer diesel. See the recent rankings where innova and Swift topped. Lancer diesel has again won the category.

I cant say about maharashtra but there are abundant lancer owners in Gujarat.

Cant see it reach the ton before 12 secs anyways until HOnda has some other gizmo in the engine.
The New Honda City ZX VTEC reaches a ton in around 10.5 seconds and the gizmo is known as VTEC

i have oct 06 baleno vxi(black) and people rate it over the NHC and lancers
coming to performance, baleno deos 0-100kmph in just above 10 seconds,i have outraced vtecs and lancers in the drags quite alot of times, regarding handling a baleno vxi comse shod with better rubber than the lxi and it makes it as competent as a lancer.further the low power unit of lancer is no match for the balenos' unit and as someone said its bhp that counts afterall when it comes to performance, coming down to interiors vxi's interiors are much better than the lancer.features are on par with the competetion.as for VFM,it costed me Rs.625895 OTR for black vxi with free sunroof worth 10k and 4 year extended warranty included. So much for the lancers and NHCs

Its on CNG now , i guess it ll do 0-100 in 20-30 sec.

Jokes apart i was wonder that a corolla does it in just under 10 sec and cedia in 10.2 so how can be the car better than those. Also the OHC (2nd 1) was not that fast.

still i ll try find a baleno to rip the tarmac. i guess i ll have to come to chandigarh ripping the fantastic highway rds.

LOLZ. cng!!No comments.

there is 'power-to-weight' and gearing as well which makes a car fast.also the cedia is quite a heavy car and doesn have the power it deserves.Similarly esteem was just a 85bhp 1.3litre car but still it was faster than some bigger cars, and 10-11 sec dash to 100kmph for a 1.5-1.6litre 'old school' jap sedan(baleno/ohc-vtec) isnt anything to be really surprised of.
And sure,ur most welcomed to Chandigarh, you will even love the city roads as well.
