So, is Hyundai going to sell the new Verna alongside the old Verna and the Accent?

Really a half-hearted attempt from Hyundai.

The pointed headlights and after-market style front bumper do not go well with the overall looks of the car.

I feel bad for the front bumper. Poor fellow is always the first one to take the hit (pun intended) during these transformations.

The new Hyundai Verna is launched officially in India. It i nowhere close to the Verna being launched in Korea. Just some basic facelift on the front grille, back lights look ordinary again

Nice one!

Its shocking that despite all feedback from people and in spite of the nature and features of competition, Hyundai doesn't improve upon the handling, ride and suspension front. Looks are subjective, so may not affect as much( only to some extent). But features? No Steering mounted controls! No air bags. The base model might be cheaper than SX4, but the higher end though cheaper by some 20 odd Ks lacks the above two important features! And missing air bags is ridiculous! Even Micra is supposed to give it.

I do not understand the marketing strategy. I guess they are not interested in selling sedans in India!

And as far as ride, handling and suspension is concerned, i don't think they ahve the competency. Otherwise they would have corrected long time ago isn't it?

I completely agree with you i Pai, airbags should have been standard on the top end model. Im not a fan of hyundai cars at all, but atleast take a hint from the i 20 with respect to certain safety and comfort features considering the top end model is almost 9L OTR. Simple features like steering controls , 6 airbags atleast as an option would have been a good thing to boost the already sagging sales and it would have also helped in making a solid base for the all new Verna which will be coming in 2011.

Yeah. The diesel is the best performer in its class isn't it?
I like the interiors too.

Its so irritating that a car of such class doesn't offer class leading safety, when car(S) half the price offer the same.

Hyundai is suffering from dual personality disorder as a car maker. 6 air bags in a lower segment model and nil airbags in a more powerful higher segment model..!!
The grill inserts look like some one has knocked them down and about to fall.! Or is it something like an a/c vent which can be moved up and down?No idea why car makers are coming up with such crap looking designs.

Hyundai provides airbags in i20 and even in i10 but not in Verna . Thats because I think they don't export any Verna out of india. So providing a verna with airbags means further development costs for them.

Verna sells solely because of its engines and sedan lovers out there.
And some stupid guy would buy it minus the airbags and pay a hefty 10L for some variants. I dont know how the sales guy would be pitching top end i20/verna about safety aspect to the same customer.

the fluidic sculpture verna is NOT yet launched in Korea, in fact, China will get this model first. The same verna transform is on sale in Korea.

Absolutely, you did well with this mod. In fact the grill is the worst bit about the redesign. It looks like Hyundai rummaged through it's mid-nineties parts bin to get this.

It really needs side skirts. Well, it has front, doesn't it ?
Tail lamp assembly is good.

I'm sure it will look good in Black and White colors.

There are plenty of Vernas here. Same design as in India. Only LHD I'm not sure if they are getting exported out of India or Korea, to the USA.
Lets see if there are any takers for the new design here. Is this is global face lift or only for India.

As seen in the above pics, Hyundai has installed air balloons in the front and rear windsheilds to compensate for the lack of airbags.

It is as if they are mocking customers who want airbags in Verna.
