The poll title needs to be changed to

"The best driver's car currently on sale below 5 lakhs ex-showroom"

to justify the poll options and results, because the best driver's car which was priced below 5 lakhs is not in the options.

Which Swift?
(don't be oh so politically correct )

Is Pailo 1.6 chassis competent enough to handle the power?
AFAIK Palio 1.6 posted slower lap times compared to Swift 1.3 G at MMST, all because of Swift's good chassis/suspension

Between the Swift-P and Swift-D, which would be the better driver's car ?
Have never driven (except for a very brief TD) a Swift-D - so would like inputs from those that have driven both extensively.

I have'nt driven the K-Series Swift. But Between the 1.3 DDIS and 1.3 G13BB i ll give it to the DDIS.
DDIS is far more easier and responsive to drive in cities. In highway although the G13BB performs superbly, the inherent nature of diesel performance (when nicely warm engines) give DDIS a Distinct advantage.

In my recent Highway trip, there was a Copper DDIS follwing us. After each toll, i take off like a rocket, only to find the DDIS blazing past after i cross the 3-figure mark!!.

isn't linear power delivery one of the hallmarks of a better 'driver's car'.
If so then it has to be the petrol swift right?

Actually I find it strange among all the 107 guys till now only me and other two have voted for A Star. :(
I thought the only thing A Star could be capable was to be a driver's car, looks like people wont agree for that even. Poor A Star.

Even the case of the Chevy Beat is strange.
If it isn't a sporty car why design it like that?

Maybe if they had designed it in a more conservative manner
in tune with it's real character, more people might go for it considering it's VFM price tag.
they could have stolen a huge chunk of prospective i10 buyers.

I'd agree. Linear power delivery is such a nice thing to have for a driver's car. Since Swift-D is not even VGT, it's a long way from giving linear power delivery. Swift 1.2 K Series will be much fun to drive IMO.

I got my Petra 1.6 for 4.9L in 2005. Does that count? LOL Did not know if the Swift DDiS retails for less than 5.

My vote goes for the Swift otherwise.

I am confused? Did Palio come in multiple variants for its 1.6L car?
AFAIK it was just one model barring Sachin's signed special edition(which was stock save for sign and lemon yellow color).

^^Any car which doesn't allow to be revved beyond 5500rpm can't be a driver's car, it is fun hitting high revs to be greeted by power.

Why not Team Bhp's first track test featuring the two cars (K and DDis) in stock trim, with the K being the Vxi version, less grip(on par with vdi) and more squeal

So you know only the S10 ?

S10 had closer gear ratios apart from the Sachin's signature, and of course a different spoiler too.

Other ones are

Palio 1.6 GTX
Palio 1.6 Sports
Palio 1.6 Stile Sports which had less weight and softer suspension than the earlier ones.

I don't know which car you're referring to, but here the fun starts from 4K rpm and engine begs to get rev'ed harder.

Why Punto is not considered here? I guess its a good car for enthu drivers ... It should be there. Also Ritz? Its praised by all for its drive ability, the why its not in the list ??

I can see Swift is winning here by fair margin
