Re: Next gen Swift Dzire is <4 meter length

The reason why the Dzire was introduced is because buyers wanted a sedan not for boot space alone but so called prestige of owning a sedan. With this new sub 4 metre Dzire isn't the whole point lost, it barely looks like a sedan or like a proper hatch.

Wouldn't it be better to just extend the hatch like a Jazz or something and have a semi estate variant?

Re: Next gen Swift Dzire is <4 meter length

I think it is not fair to comment on the size of the boot or space just by looking at a picture. Yes we can comment on the exterior Dzirability of the car. Atleast the side profile looks good. How many compact sedans do we have in the market? Indigo CS is the only one right?

+1 to That schitre05.
"If" the Benefit is passed on to the customer then this would surely find a lot of buyers and is sure to create another segment leader from Maruti.
Mixed emotions on this one as I love the Swift and not so the version with the Fat Bum.
This one looks slight more proportionate.

If this causes Tata to improve Indigo CS (or create some sort of Manza CS) that would by itself be great

Re: Next gen Swift Dzire is <4 meter length

Has anyone noted that it looks like they are building this on new Swift? From headlamps i think its based on new swift.

Many people saying about the boot space. I am sure Mariti will take care of that. Surely it will not be as big as it has right now but it will be bigger than the normal hatch. My guess is it will be around 350 Liters. So that it can carry luggage of a small family for 4 days.

Also note that it will be cost effective. It will come with new Swift design. That means better interiors & better space on rear. I am sure people will like it for sure & will sell almost in equal numbers with Swift

Whatever it is being called, say a sub-sedan/semi-sedan/2.5 box etc, this looks lot better and compact than the current Dzire with some of its ugly butt pruned.

No. Just plain 'No' to this one. The Indigo CS looks nice atleast. This looks even more out of proportion than the present Dzire. What's wrong with the designers over at Maruti Suzuki?

Re: Next gen Swift Dzire is <4 meter length

The new Dzire looks like one of those weird and whacky toy cars we had when we were kids. I guess this is the indigo CS effect.
Waiting to see how this will be received in the market once it's launched.

Re: Next gen Swift Dzire is <4 meter length

New Swift Dzire featured in the latest AutoCar Mag. Just got myself a copy. First impression - W&W thread competitor. Similar to the Indigo CS. Would love to see one in real so that we can get to see how good or bad it is.

Re: Next gen Swift Dzire is <4 meter length

MSIL should redesign the headlamps. IMO, it is the headlamps that spoil the proportion.

It still looks ugly and the maruti brand and pricing will take it through. Would it not make sense if the engineers had tried sort of an estate design thereby giving the hatch more boot space and get rid of that ugly boot integration.

.
Maruti will not dare another estate in India..all the "estates" have failed, the premier safari, the tata estate, baleno altura, indigo marina. I guess it's the indian mindset, a 3 box-car fine, but an estate a strict no-no inspite of a few estates being better-looking than their booted cousins!!

Re: Next gen Swift Dzire is <4 meter length

Looks incredibly out of proportion.
One could argue that adding a spoiler may significantly enhance the looks.

But then again, no matter what you do, it would lack oomph!

Re: Next gen Swift Dzire is <4 meter length

To reduce the excise duty, MSIL decided to come up with this smaller version of the Dzire.

Here re the details:

1. 160mm shorter.
2. New rear door.
3. Plenty of chrome around the grille, fog lamps and on the boot.
4. New alloys similar to the new SX4.
5. Reclined rear seats with more legroom.
6. Steering mounted controls and multiple airbags and more chrome elements here.
7. Keyless entry, Bluetooth connectivity, iPod dock and USB port.
8. Diesel to have 1.3 multi jet engine from Fiat (DDIS) and 1.2 k series for petrol.
9. Softer suspension.
10. 30,000 cheaper than the current Dzire.

Thanks for the details. Will maruti discontinue the current dzire and leave a void in the market? I mean they have stated somewhere that the new Dzire (plus 4 meters) with the bigger boot will come in 2014, and im not too sure if everyone is going to buy this 2.5 Box New Dzire instead of an Etios, which is a full fledged 3 box car.
