Well, in that case, I have a few suggestions for Maruti Suzuki!

Take a look at this Saab 9-5 2.8T XWD Aero.

The most apparent design aspect about this car is the 'wrap-around' front windscreen that is similar to the Swift/Fabia/Mini. But, notice the window-line that gently tapers away and the seamlessly integrated boot that makes it look like a genuine sedan.

One look at this and you'd arrive at the conclusion that this was always meant to be a sedan.

Maruti should learn a thing or two from this and hopefully, come up with a new Dzire that doesn't look like a Swift with a boot slapped onto the back!

Its so cool that the Swift actually looks a lot like the Kizashi from the inside. Very happy to see that the Maruti Suzuki product range is actually going a little upmarket.

Looks a lot cooler from the inside than even some upmarket cars like the Jazz or Polo

The new 2011 Swift?? Really?? I'd accept Swift as the New Swift the day Suzuki designs it with A, B AND C pillar blackened out with black tapes - that'd be the ultimate floating roof!!

Agreed dude, but you must also take into account the high and rising shoulder line on the Swift hatch. That, combined with the short bonnet and jet-fighter style green-house of the Swift makes the resultant Dzire an ugly blob of a car.

In my opinion the Saab also lacks that flow of a proper, sleek and contemporary sedan. If you cover the picture of the Saab with your palm just aft of the B-Pillar,you'll notice that the lines somehow don't seem to culminate into a proper long saloon.Big hatch or estate seem more appropriate! The wrap-around glasshouse and relatively short bonnet are to blame. But then cover up the front, and the rear looks like perfect, genuine, handsome sedan B-Pillar onwards. But I must admit the Saab guys have managed to cover it up well. The fact that two different cars are stuck together with glue near the C-pillar is not that evident as in case of the Dzire!

All said and done, this looks a thousand times better than the Dzire and I'll be more than happy if the next Dzire comes even remotely close.

Guys, anyone got any update?

I have one of my good friends informing me(he was at the TD of A* Auto) that new Swift should be here near Diwali, I checked out the Wagon-R today & was surprised to find it having electrical mirror adjust which I think is absent on ZXi. The new Swift should be feature rich I believe.

Although the Saab does lack that certain fluidity about its design, it does look like a proper, grown-up sedan and not a patch-up job like the Dzire. All said and done, it is hard to make a car, a sedan, when it already has design elements like the wraparound glass-house and the short front over-hang. It's best to leave it as a hatch!

The SAAB had a longer length to play with! Thats the only difference i see. Both boot designs dont gel well with the rest of the car.

First impressions are nice, especially the interiors. I was hoping that they would come up with a slightly different grill, but why fix whats not broken.
Looks like the new Swift will carry the legacy of the old Swift ahead with ease.
Good job Suzuki.

Maybe Maruti is testing the waters for Swift AT by launching the Astar AT?

Well I am a huge fan of Suzuki Swift ever since it was launched. (But didn't buy one for THE ONLY REASON: Rear Seat Space & Comfort) I hope that ONE reason will get diluted / resolved with this New Swift 2011.

I have been following this thread and Googling around for new updates & pics on Swift 2011.

Here are 2 links with lot of detailed pics of New Swift 2011.

Picasa Web Albums - Peter Van Gysel - Suzuki Swift ...

and Slide show at

Suzuki Swift

It has got a superb Dashboard, way better than i20, Punto, Polo, Fabia, Figo, Vista, Beat and what else Jazz too, well that is just my opinion. Wish they offer Black & Beige combination, it will give a Classy look, nevertheless even this all Grey & Back combo isn't bad either. Gives that SPORTY FEEL.

I feel the one feature which is a necessity and is available with only one Hatchback in the market ie., Hyundai i20 is the Auto Retractable ORVMs and it looks like this feature is given a miss in the new Swift 2011. Surprising it has got a Push-Button Start as an Option (only in Nissan MICRA) and not Auto Folding/Retractable ORVMs keeping in view this is the European Version, God knows what else will go missing on Indian Version.

I am eagerly waiting for this new Swift 2011 to be launched here, looks great & should feel the same, keeping the legacy of its predecessor.

Few more Swift 2011 pics here. Enjoy!

Now that you've mentioned it, I agree with you too! It doesn't gel well, even though I said the opposite. But what I'm trying to say is that the design of the Saab has been executed much better than the Dzire's!

A car with an existing design element that's as strong as the 'wraparound glasshouse' cannot pull off a boot easily. But the Saab seems to do it best! And it would be great to see if Maruti can pull off a similar stunt!

Great pictures of the new Swift!

I sincerely hope Maruti introduces the 3-door variant, at least this time round and if not in series production, in limited numbers. There might just be a market for it in our country.

Pics 3,5 & 6 makes it resemble more of the fabia, though i must admit the dash looks cool.

The more I see the New Swift, the more I eager I become to purchase the car, despite not being a person who would like to go to Maruti Suzuki showrooms even. However, I would like to buy a big vehicle before that, owing to expanding clan (joint family).

&, I would like the Grey (not silver) colour on the my Swift.
