One of the most awaited, never released and still waiting car would be the new Mitsubishi Lancer. There has been threads which goes back years giving out scoops of the release of this car. Every year when car magazines come up with the list of cars to look out for the next year, the Lancer would surely find space with an expected release date and even specs! Either these people are all bluffing or just trying to fill page space.

One of the reason why most people expect this car is simply because of its immense potential to shake up the market. With the kind of features and inside out looks, Lancer have in its kitty, the Skoda's, Honda's and Corolla's would be really worried. The competition would gladly thank HM for the delay.

The old Lancer when released was a runaway success which made a huge impact in the luxury, executive segment in the better side of 10 lakhs. But then HM never knew what to do after that, they just simply watched the competition come up with better cars which were eating into their sales pie as they them self were eating arrowroot biscuits and drinking tea.:Frustrati

But this time around, there are some serious movements, the latest Overdrive claims the release of New Lancer soon. Not sure how credible that news is considering the number of times (year after year) they disappointed all. But this is ideally the best time for Mitsubishi to bring out their best weapon.

The launch of Evo X in the coming weeks would soon create a ripple in the market which if planned well could be converted into a wave by bringing in the New Lancer as it would tag itself as the 'not so rich' man's Evo!
Another reason for the release would be since most of Lancer's competitors are focusing heavily on smaller hatchbacks, Lancer could take a better focus.

One of the reasoning behind the delay of New Lancer was that they needed a good diesel engine which they had to get from VW. But the Diesel engine for their UK Lancer serves really well. (0-100 under 10s). Also the soon to be released Outlander Diesel's engine along with its platform could also be shared.

Is Mitsubishi even listening? Hope this thread would bring out the thoughts and observations of other car users and help HM official to jolt them self off their own deep slumber!:deadhorse

I read somewhere Mitsubishi is only planning to bring the 50 lakh Evo X. They are not going to launch the new lancer here as the current exchange rate makes it expensive and hence not a viable option.

When the all-new next gen lancer is launched all over the world,after a couple of years,HM-Mitsu will launch the present lancer in india under the name"mitsubishi lancer XXXXXsomethin something".
Period.

With a localisation of just around 30-35%, Lancer could be launched at around 12 lakhs considering the exchange rates.:)

The only way i guess mitsubishi can go forward is to fully disassociated with HM,and go alone in India.I wonder if mitsubishi's japanese bosses even consider India with that much importance as rest of the car market do.
