if its launched, its another disaster waiting to happen. Its a 4 speed auto, but an AT option in a car with non existant space? Wagon R would have made much more sense considering it has the same engine. Its already overpriced to begin with, and then it will be eevn more expensive, suddenly the i10 will prove to be an infinitely better option. And with the facelift coming soon, maybe its too late...

It's a welcome addition. This will only help introduce the automatic culture down the line and inturn reduce a lot of road rage

In our driving condition, it's only a matter of time that almost every model is available with an auto tranny option.

The new swift in A/T would be a sure hit. Hope Maruti is listening !

It seems to be a last ditch effort by Suzuki to bring up the sales figures of A-star.But, never the less its a good thing to see more manufacturers offering AT option in this segment.

Will at least have second option to i10 (if you can call A-Star an option compared to i10).

A/T is welcome addition in any sub 10 lakh car. But just an A/T will not help Maruti to sell the A-Star in good numbers. An A/T in Swift, Ritz and Wagon-R will prove useful.

The issue is if this fails, it will bring down the manufacturers confidence on ATs. I think they must get the AT in cars that are selling well like the Ritz or Swift.

Instead of or in addition to an A/T, would Maruti please add power adjustable OVRMs, a rear wipe/ wash and driver's seat height adjustment?

Good move overall, but I wonder about the choice of car. A-star already suffers from the perception of being overpriced and low VFM.

Maybe Maruti is playing a very smart game. Enter with a bad AT in the not so VFM car. People will forget it was Maruti. Instead everyone will perceive AT as the thing that was bad.

Kill Hyundai's AT options by just using perception.

Do I get 10 points for an original conspiracy theory?

They cannot beat the i10 Automatic in any category.

A-Star is tooooo cramped overall.

If its an Automatic @ a price tag of Rs 4 lacs OTR, it makes sense buying, else Maruti Suzuki will fail miserably.

I think it is a good move. Clearly targeted at the ladies and the people who want the comfort of driving their own vehicle, but don't particularly love the nuances of driving and couldn't care less.

IMHO the only thing turning many potential buyers away from the i10 auto, is the F.E factor. If Maruti manage to get a decent FE out of AStar auto (around 14), I am sure it will be a hit.

bblost, I bow before thee!

You should join a car manufacturer in their strategic planning department, i.e If you haven't already!
