Hi Folks,
Have seen the debate between Innova, Scorpio and Dicor going on for a long time. Its about time we take a poll and see what the T Bhpians really feel about these cars. I have limited the budget to 8 lakhs as this poll is meant to be fair, we dont want to compare the 12 lakh rupees top model of Tata Safari Dicor with Scorpio SLX which is for 8.5 lakhs. So to keep the poll fair, which out of these three options will you choose given you had 8.5 lakhs. I think this will answer most questions that prespective buyers for large car in that budget have.
So let the poll begin..... clap:

how come you are getting scorpio top end for 8 lakhs
and what middle model be specific .YOU ought to be clear and the poll is sot clearat all think top end of scorpio is slx and as well as sportz and terming innova there is g1 g2 g3 if uare putiing up this after the b+ segment there also u have nt put up palio 1.9d and gtx i think u should correctit

i wou;ld definitely go for the safari.
its mere presence on the road is quite intimidating & thats GOOOOD.

i would pick a innova 2.5D..... offers more space, more savings and more power in its class..

Is chevy tavera not a contender !!

It all depends on one's usage, but if you're a single guy and want to take the girls out, I would recommend the Scorpio. It not only looks the best amongst these three, but is also very very low on maintenance... I know many Scorpio owners who have had their Scorpios for over a year and have spent barely Rs.1000/- - Rs.1,500/- on their vehicles. Yes, the Scorpios are in great condition and have clocked over 10,000kms.

The Scorpio with huge alloys and tyres be a real eye-catcher. Plus its not all that bad, its comfy and has a decent amt of room inside.

The old Safari is also pretty good, the DICOR dosen't somehow seem that appealing.

That sounded more like the Indica V2

My pick Innova is ahead and only becaused Top end Safari is not in competition.

If size is the only criteria, you can get the Chevy Tavera for the same Budget and the Indigo Marina TDi will beat them all for sheer value.

why dont you have Tavera in the poll?

best mileage of the group. better built than Scorpio! and Safer than Scorp and can do high speeds :))

If you want absolute peace of mind, then it has to be Innova and you need to go for not less than the G2 variant. You may have to stretch the budget upto 9 L. I would go with Innova.

a bit off topic - are used Innovas on the market yet ?

yup! its now a favourate of call centre taxi operators

any reviews of the Tavera Elite yet ? How much better etc is it ?

Aseem, you need to relook at the your purpose of holding the poll.. the cars being compared are quite different in terms of the markets they address:

Innova/Tavera - Comfortable, value for money vans meant for transporting people. But take a beating in the image department.. see the 'single guy' comment below.

Scorpio - Good value for money semi SUV. macho image but lacks a bit on space, handling, braking, 4x4, although it has a sparkler of an engine

Dicor - only true SUV this side of 10L with 4x4 options. good highway runner. very comfortable. engine, a bit tedious in city. good image .

Once you have the purpose clear, the poll resolves itself. Me, I already bought the Dicor so you know where my vote is :-)
