I am floored, totally. Skoda has packed the three variants quite nicely. AT on petrol only and buyers also get the option of getting an auto box in the middle variant..!! Just can't wait for the pricing to be revealed.

Just finished watching the Rapid review on Bloomberg.

Points to note:

- 3 trim levels - Active, Ambition & Elegance.

- ABS + Driver Airbag available on Ambition & 2 Airbags for Elegance.

- Petrol AT available as option for both Ambition & Elegance.

- Elegance gets alloys, ACC, plus a few other features.

- Price expected to be around 3-5% lesser than Vento's pricing.

- Steering mounted controls absent in all trims.

- Front & rear fog lamps available for Ambition & Elegance both.

- The diesel is again the pick of the two engine options on offer.

- Front profile looks bigger and slightly better than the Vento.

- Everything else is basically the same as the Vento.


All in all, very nicely loaded trims. Looks like the Ambition will be the most VFM option of the 3, although with the pricing even the Elegance should prove to be a pretty solid option as well.

There is without a doubt some cross shopping will be there between Vento & Rapid.
I just cant understand hoe can it priced less than Vento? Ohh I got it. It cant be priced less than Vento. But the Vento can be priced higher. And indeed they had done that a few days back.

Now the question is why will someone go for Rapid even if there is 5% less cost involved. Skoda A$$ is so bad that the adage "A known devil is better than unknown angel" does not work here at all.

I am keen on the refinement part though. It is the only sore point in the Vento and if the Rapid can somehow ameliorate the refinement it can be even a better all-rounder.

The ever so slightly altered car (Rapid) will add volumes to the VW Group sales as the same Vento will now be available through 2X showrooms ( Skoda and VW).
Basically more outlets= more exposure= bigger sales.

It makes so much sense to sell the same car under 2 brands and make use of both the brands dealerships.

It's not as if VW has had glowing reviews for its *** And with Skoda Shield a lot of headache is gone.

I think if this is priced lower than Vento, its going to outsell it.

Had a chat with Skoda dealer yesterday. He quoted a price of 9.5 Lakh (approx) for diesel top model (ex showroom).

Other information he shared was that Delhi NCR sales employees were asked to be present in Gurgaon on 10th Nov. Probably they'll reveal detailed specs and prices.

Delivery expected in second week of Dec.

Skoda #Rapid 1.6 MPI: 105 bhp, 153 Nm. 1.6 TDI: 105 bhp, 250 Nm. Mpi has 5 Speed manual or 6 speed auto. TDI is just manual:(
