I don't understand , why would a manufacturer make a handful of models on order/demand and offer a massive discount on it ?

What's there in it for Fiat, why aren't they phasing out the model fully ?

Exactly! Me too wondering, what are they really achieving with this offer??
Anybody can understand a clearance sale, but this one sounds strange. Clearance of OEM material/equipments lying around may be!

Does any member here own/drive a 1.1 petrol Palio stile, if yes how is the engine in terms of drive-ability and fuel economy?

Will post the feedback I get. BTW is the Palio drive similar to the Punto ? Is it also the 75 Bhp version ??

Cheers
Ricky,

Do post as & when your dealer comes back to you. I went to Sanya motors in Defence colony yesterday and they are not at all interested in talking about the same what to say about the booking etc.

I would love top buy one at the indicated prices and can register in HR in case Delhi regn. is not possible.

These are BS3 Models and have to be registered outside Metros. For example - Registration done at Ramanagaram RTO instead of Bangalore. The dealer said that he will take care of that.

Even I'm a bit dizzy upon this. Initially, the made on order was offered since the response for the 2008 and 2009 models were too high and as a result FIAT offered the 2010 models as made on order to those who were not able to get an old available stock, but it seems to be continuing.

Just a quote from PUG for reference:

Dear All,

As Makesh wrote, Stile Dhamaka Offer closed. Some details(Interesting
) are as follows.

Makeshravi and Myself started this project to find the Palio Stile MJs from FIAT stock. Then we came to know that some more MJs are also there. So we got so involved to finalize all the MJs and Stile 1.1s for thePUGians and others. We targeted only 50 vehicles. But see the following statistics.

2008 Palios - 8 nos sold
2009 Palios - 42 nos sold
2010 Palios - 377(?!) nos booked. Not have a proof of this magic number.

So our demand have hit more the montly production of FIAT. Why can't FIAT can continue the STILE in the starting diesel car segment?

Makesh and Mysefl have 100% satisfaction with this deal. As a PUGian we did something for our members. The same time give the opportunity to FIAT have raise the counts in STILE Category. FEEL VERY GOOD.

@H14: Thanks for sharing the email conversation. If the number 377 was true on June 7, its been one and a half month now. I am sure atleast 200-300 more bookings would have received. Are Fiat waiting for the 1000 mark and then produce them?

Some question remains unanswered.
1) Why produce and deliver Palios at discounted price and not the normal price given that there is some sort of a demand/need?
2) Have Fiat formally stated that they are phasing out Palio?
3) Is the Palio 2011 really going to happen?
4) Is it strategy to market the Palio 2011?

If Fiat really can continue the Stile in the discounted prices, yet making decent profits and market it well, it would become a best seller. No doubt about it!

Even otherwise, if even now if they advertise the slashed price, they would get 1000's of bookings all around India, in my opinion.

Spoke to the Prerana guys today and they said that the offer will close on Monday. The lease company has sent me the quotation. They have also allowed me to avail the free insurance offer from FIAT.

Planning to book tomorrow. Color - Medium Grey.

Thank you Karthik.

As per the quote the road tax is Rs.55627/- which is the standard 14.3% in Bangalore. So I guess the road tax is calculated on the Ex Showroom price of Rs.3,89,000/- only.

The sales head emailed me that the road tax might be calculated on the original ex-showroom price and not the discounted price. I asked him if the old price and discount would be mentioned in the invoice, he said no. I am all confused. For myself, as a worst case scenario, I might opt a temp registration, drive the car out and register by myself.

Also, even you would be booking with 50k right?

Off topic: What does company lease mean?

Yes I'm booking with 50k.

Car lease is offered by my Company. I would not have to make any payment up front. I just need to pay the monthly EMI's and the Vehicle will be in the company name and would be transferred to mine once the lease period is over. I save on some tax and only minimal paper work is required.
