In-fact, I've known of instances wherein the same TC used in the same engine used by different manufacturers yield different results!

This is very true. It is very common. This has got to do with the above mentioned reasons.

When 2 different manufacturers have the same engine in different chassis then the inlet tract varies quite a bit as does the exhaust, which will affect perfromance. On the 1.9TD we gained 6bhp by removing the airbox and replacing it by a proper AIR and the spool-up time was much quicker bringing in peak torque lower and gaining at about 55Nm of torque.

On the T-jet we experienced similar gains except that the torque increase was lower.

However the turbo lag is virtually non existing in the T-jet. The engine has got a very high compression ratio to start with, which helps a lot.

I don't think we have to worry about the bhp figures. The antique gearbox is main cause of concern. and turbo lag can also spell doom.

When you say antique gearbox do you actually have an idea as to what is wrong with it??? For the un-initiated I haven't heard of power sapping manual gearbox's

Bumped into a site having Linea T-jet test drive report; unable to understand the language.

Honda Civic is shown as T-jet's Rival.

Testes: Fiat Linea T-Jet | QUATRO RODAS

With some members speculating (or confirming?) launch date as 8th October, am wondering if T-BHP has already started its preparations for the test drive ;)

Would be keenly watching this space specifically to see if there are any improvements in the interiors w.r.t fit and finish. I wouldn't want to shell out 1 million Rupees if the premium factor is absent. And purely from a performance point of view, T-jet and Vento Diesel should be a good comparo.

+1 to that both have good ride and handling.
Linea definitely looks a class apart. On the other hand Vento has more space.
Both should be great cars to drive. Bring in the new fiesta and the line up will be complete.please:

A BIG SURPRISE AWAITS AT THE LAUNCH!cant reveal much right now as it all depends on the schedules!but if everything falls in place we just may see some of the fastest men in the world launching it!fingers crossed

Does any one have any idea about T-Jet launch in Chandigarh? Since it is being done in a phased manner as per what I've heard from someone. I got to know that T-Jet will be first introduced in major cities/metros followed by nation wide distribution.

@sidgo7- Are you related to Fiat in anyway? I hope so as we have some 30 page+ feedback to give to you guys. please:

Lewis Hamilton in India ... is he the surprise element for the T-Jet launch too?

They wouldn't listen. And I mean this. I am in the automotive business for over 3 decades and have dealt with the Fiat group on different levels. They made their useless market studies and act accordingly. If it goes wrong they blame anyone who makes a good scape goat.

There is no way they'll get Lewis to launch a Fiat car. Being a mcLaren driver, he is a competitor to the Fiat group. If it is an F1 driver it has to be either Alonso or Massa.

will it be Michael Schumacher ?

found this Tjet video at indianautoblog , featuring Schumacher

I hope so its MS but he is driving for Mercedes,is he still associated in any way to the Fiat/Ferrari group?

Guys, it may be both Alonso+Massa. MS may be expected as well.
Sidgo's post suggest that more than one F1 driver may be present on the occasion.

^^ MS is not in any contract with Ferrari or Fiat S.P.A. Dont expect him to be here.

Expect Massa/Alonso when they say about one of the fastest men in the world!

It would most probably be Massa!

May be he can have a look at the new track coming up as well
