On the way from Kanchipuram to Mahabalipuram I saw this SUV. It probably could be the Tata's new Aria I guess.

Nope should not be the Aria, TATA has been sending the cars UNCOVERED for testing all over India why should they have one covered up and sent for testing unless they had some new external changes on it, and I think it is too late for that.

Dual exhausts are visible, but not too much more, seems to be large sized.

Its seems Mahindra....WORLD SUV.
Check the back light..similar to scorpio light(old gen)

I don't think it is Aria. Aria has been unveiled already and without any external changes, they don't need to cover up this prototype this much. This is a heavily camouflaged testing vehicle. so we can expect something else than Aria. Any scope for a New Safari?

Possibly mahindra.. I can't think of any other SUV.

Just because it is Chennai, can it be something from Hyundai/ Ford?

Can any of you see the rear differential in the pics?

it could be new the new captiva

Looking at the reg plate, it's most likely to be the Mahindra SUV.
Another pic of the same here:

I suspect its the Santa Fe from Hyundai. Looks like a monoque construction, not a ladder on frame chasis.

the photos from the rear makes it more of a MUV than a SUV.

1. the huge body structure makes it bulky and heavy.
2. not much of a GC to be a SUV.
3. lower rear bumper for easy loading and unloading.

the dual exhausts makes is a atleast a 2.5-3.0 lts engined vehicle.

the cloth covers infalted by the wind makes the roof bigger.

it could be a Kia Carnival, Hyundai Veracruz or even a Ford!

Santa Fe has already been spotted without heavy clothes somewhere in delhi.

I think it has TN plate. May be a ford/hyundai.

I do not know any ford vehicle with this type of rear profile.

A thread already exists where the pictures of this camo-ed SUV have been put up and discussed. I think this discussion belongs there.

Looks like its either independent rear suspension RWD or FWD.

Not the Aria or the W-201 for sure. It looks like an MUV rather than a SUV to me. The rear is a coil spring independent suspension but the driveline is a suspect. Could be an FWD vehicle though. Body seems to be a monocoque with a rear overhang similar to a Xylo.
