Polo 1.6 Hatchback

Mod Note : Team-BHP's review of the Polo GT TDI has been taken live at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the review thread. Thanks!

Mods,
Opening an new thread for Polo 1.6 hatch back .... the next hot hatch for India. Please close this thread if there is one already there which I couldn't find.

Team BHP,
As some of you might be aware already that I had booked the Polo 1.6 in mid June 2010, the first one to book from Kolkata. The dealer in Kolkata promised me Aug end delivery. A lot of us including myself were not convinced that the deliveries would start in Aug end.
However I got a call (followed by an email) from the dealer today - The introductory pricing and delivery schedule of Polo 1.6 has been announced. As it stands the price at Kokata would be as follows -

Price (Ex-Showroom Kolkata) Rs.6,16,000
Insurance Rs. 26,565
Permanent Registration Rs. 53,680
On Road Cost Rs. 6,96,245

According to the dealer my car is already in production (week 30) and should get delivered by end August.
Will start posting details and experience once I receive the delivery. Till then...

@sadnabrina Sir, are there any extra goodies like Climate Control AC, electrically adjustable mirrors or anything else that come with the 1.6 variant?

Is this the highline trim? Pricing sounds too good to believe!

Hope Ford follows next with a Figo 1.6 priced near to 5.5L.

PS- Alto K10 for entry level, Polo 1.6 for midlevel. Looks like enthusiasts prayers for performance hatchbacks are finally being heard!

Thats a very very good price. Given the build of Polo, guys who are sad on demise of Palio 1.6 should be happy. Same euro rock solid build and 1.6 powerplant.

Friends Polo 1.6 only comes in the Highline trim. So the price is too good and irresistible. I wish I could go for it(I am going for the i20 1.2 asta and I cannot stretch my budget any further).

Please write a comprehensive report when you do get to test drive!

The price of INR 7 Lakhs on road, seems good proposition for a car oozing with power like this one.

Dont think Ford will consider our prayer as they want to keep the Global Fiesta Hatch as a performance oriented one. Coming up with a 1.6L Figo would affect the Fiesta launch plans.

Last when checked with the VW showroom the OTR difference between 1.2 Highline and 1.6 was 43k taking the OTR to approx 7.5 BLR.

wow! You booked in June and you're going to get your Polo in August! I had booked the 1.2 Petrol in April and still haven't got it! Dealer says mid-august.

Nice price. Though I wonder why VW Kolkata charges 53+K for Road Tax and regn. They charge a similar amount for the Jetta. Skoda too has high RT&regn charges.
Yet, Honda charges 41K for the Civic in the same city.

The Polo 1.6 has similar specs to 1.2 Highline. There are no added features in the car.Wish they could have given Race specs alloys featured in Polo cup.
