This one is the BS4version. Its an iron block, 8-valve and fairly low revving unit.
VW official claim is 11.5 secs for 0-100. I posted the source link somewhere earlier.

Im quite sure its the 1.6 R4 16v and not 8v as mentioned by Mpower. He is confusing it for an older version.

The engine specs for Jetta 1.6L petrol are almost identical to that offered on Polo 1.6L, looks like the same motor. Would also make commercial sense to have a single motor over 3 platforms - Polo, Vento and Jetta.

You are at least 50% off the mark.

Kerb Weight of Jetta = 1343kg
Kerb Weight of 1.2 Polo = 1055 (Highline Trim, since 1.6 will come with Highline Trim as of now)

It is safe to assume that the Polo 1.6 would be close to 1100kgs. That implies, the weight difference is approx. 250kgs (hence 50% off.......)

VW Downtown admitted they have sold a 1.6L polo, they stated that on booking the vehicle would be delivered in 45 days flat. Other VW dealers in bangalore are still ignorant about the fact that there exists a 1.6 version which is quite astounding, to say the least.

You are 100% on the mark here. My bad. I read the GVW of Jetta (1870 kgs).
Anyway the Jetta engine is a different one - Jetta -1595 cc; 102ps/5600; 148 Nm/3800 versus Polo - 1598 cc; 105 Ps/5250; 153 Nm/3750. The claimed 0 to 100 for Jetta is also 1.1 sec slower than the Polo claimed 11.1.

im lovin it!

the rear will look good after de-badging it! i dont like the volkswagen name on the boot, its very long and spoils the saxy rear of the polo.

if i would have the polo 1.6, i would de-badge it complelety except the boot latch VW logo.

This is embarrassing stuff from VW! Called up the dealership yesterday for a TD and the sales rep at West Delhi VW doesn't have a 1.6 for TD as... "it hasn't yet been launched, Sir! "

What tires is the 1.6 running, it's supposed to be 185/60 R15's but somehow, the pictures make the tires seem thin.

+1. No information on their website either. No specs, nothing. Do they want to sell purely by snoot value?
