Swift and Wagon R still rule! Goes to prove one thing- bring out a better version of tried and trusted cars, and the sales zoom. Indian consumer is not averse to buying an aging model, if given a spruce up and a new heart( engine)
I think even the verna got the same treatment, the transform has beefed up the sales!
Fortuner HAS to go down as probably the highest money churner for any brand so far. Maybe the City has given honda that cash cow so far that this one has given Toyota. Talk about a runaway hit!
What will be really interesting is the Cruze Vs Altis Diesel fight in the next months and maybe whose sales take a hit( if at all) with the vento.

Alto may have been launched on 4th Aug, but despatch to dealers would have been done in July. The sales reported after all are the primary sales, i.e. Factory to dealers

In fact, all the mentioned figures are primary sales.
Secondary sales are usually collected at the end of the month and the sales orders are placed accordingly for the corresponding month based on the secondary sales, stock in hand and stock in transit

Corolla Altis - is the split up numbers for petrol and diesel available? Would be interesting to see the numbers for the diesel variant alone.

I wonder about the guys who bought the Fortuner. Were these guys all waiting for this vehicle?

Such a crazy demand man. Good to see, wish the other spend some time to get to the mantra....

Whats up with the Logan. Good numbers after months.

Polo at 2k+ - slowly and steadily growing, may be in next 6-8 months the back log would clear.
Alto at 27K that too before Alto K10 launch! Next months figure would be interesting!
i20 - great going, guess the sales increased.
Even after so many launches including diesels, swift sales are up I beleive at 11K. This car is so special, even after almost 6 yrs the sales figures are impressive to say the least.

Thanks Karpusv for compiling and sharing the info.

Toyota Prius - 6?
I've never seen a Prius on the roads in Mumbai. Who buys them? Also I haven't come across a Prius test drive thread on T-Bhp. I am really curious about this vehicle. Do they offer same features as the Jap version in India?

This is precisely what I meant. All sales are primary and even though Alto k10 launch was on 4th Aug, depatches would have happened in July and hence sales accounted for in July

Yes, few of them are smitten by Fortuner.

Toyota Kirloskar Motors received over 2,500 bookings for the Toyota Fortuner immediately after its launch, where as the company has estimated a sales target of 2,000 units for this year..

Toyota Motor Corporation launched the Fortuner to the global market in 2005. The SUV has has sold over 2,50,000 units in 60 countries.

Great going Fortuner.

Hi Karpusv,

Thanks a lot for the compilation. Nice insight to the trend of vehicle sales.

Good to see the Micras and the Polo selling strong nos but I guess this will the intial burst. It needs to be seen whether they hold the fort leave apart marching ahead of the market leader such as Swift and Indicas.

The Alto nos are mind boggling, and now with the K10 the nos are sure to increase come the festive season.
