Work to start soon on Maruti Suzuki's test track

Maruti Suzuki’s Rs1000 crore test track in Haryana is on its way to becoming a reality. This will initiate the launch of 100 per cent indigenous car for domestic market, by 2012 and an innovative global car before 2014.

The track will include an R&D wing that would develop new cars. According to reports today, the company’s Marketing Executive Officer disclosed that the track is said to have been made with a particular design and the actual work may start sometime later this year. The project, in the 600 acre land in Haryana (allotted by the state government) may be completed in a period of 18-24 months.

The team of this R&D will comprise of nearly 1000 engineers who have been working on various projects since the launch of Swift in 2005. So, they are already in tune with the technological expertise and needs from Suzuki Japan. The team will now get an additional 100 engineers to work on the track. It is the same team that has worked on WagonR and the recent Alto K10. They are also the people behind the CNG variants of five models that will be launched soon.

The spokesperson also said that the company foresees an imminent growth in the coming quarter by increasing the sale volume by 10-14 per cent. This, the company said, will be achieved by enhancing the production and manufacturing efficiencies. Everything will come to a smooth pedaling once the Manesar facility gets additional production capacity, probably next year, he said.

Hope they can finally make a car that can seat a 100% indigenous paratha and jalebi eating Indian in comfort than cars designed to fit hobbits and japanese.
