The auto in the Vento is NOT a DSG as mentioned in the other Vento thread. It is a normal autobox.

Many are predicting doom for honda city. I think that its the first proper diesel alternative to the honda city petrol. I wont comment now on how it will be affected, though I know. I will write about this 6 months later, after the hoopla boils down.

The linea diesel has been around and is also a proper alternative to the city petrol, why would you not put as an option that exists? Check out the thread on sedans under 12 lacs, diesel linea figures amongst the top so no reason that it can't be termed as a proper diesel alternative to the city petrol.

Called downtown today to check on the prices and as mentioned earlier, they dont have a clue as yet. Srikant, who has been providing some inputs in earlier posts on Vento is busy in Chennai for two days attending a training for Vento. I guess between GTO's review and the guys who have attended training we will have more clarity on the whole package and worth of the Vento..

Some good features in the Vento which were missed in the Polo are
  • Auto AC
  • Electric ovrms
  • Boot light
  • front armrest
  • rear armrest
  • remote boot opening
  • height adjustable seatbelt.
  • reading lights
  • anti-theft system
All of the above are very useful features. I thought the Polo had the remote boot opening which is a very very handy feature ..isn't it?
Can anybody has information about whether the Vento has reading lights at the front and the rear as well?
I find it hard to believe that the Trendline version of the Vento deos not have a remote key. Spending so much and having to open the car with the manual key is so uncool!

If anything, that's good news. I know I know, I love DSG's too, but from a reliability and TCO perspective, I think a normal torque converter is juuuuuust fine.

Exactly; and with only 2 colors to chose from VW is not looking at volumes on Trendline.
And Highline prices are just good; not great.

But isn't DSG the newgen dry clutch technology resulting in better shift times, lower loss of power and better FE? I guess DSG offers better FE than manual shift right?

Vento Petrol Highline in Bangalore On Road will cost around 9.7 lacs!! Is this "deadly" cheap for a 1.6 ltr okay looking Sedan?! Fiesta is a better option I guess..

for comparison sake, what's the price of Hondacity S and V MT versions in bangalore? (considering discounts and freebies available in the City)

I don't know how the prices of VW is lower in Bangalore than Hyderabad whereas Bangalore has a higher road tax! Will try to get the prices for Hyderabad ASAP.

The wait is over ... or just not yet

Hi All,

I know I am sounding cliched, but I'm really waiting with a cheque in the name of "Volkswagen Palace Cross" ... its all upto GTO now, once I get the "green" signal, the inevitable shall happen

Quite happy about the pricing and the packaging. Would have loved to see steering controls, but like they say, you can't have it all, don't they???

cheers,
Pannags
