Tata Motors presents Indica V2 Turbomax

Hi All,

Tata Motors has launched Indica V2 Turbomax.

Tata Motors presents Indica V2 Turbomax ? More Car Per Car

I think it is Indica V2 with TDI engine. Whatever, but it is coming up as a sigh of relief for Indica Vista Owners. Now Cabbie's favorite is back with BS4 engine .

What the hell is this...whats the point in logging a 12 year old model and calling it turbomax?

Remember, it still sells in good numbers after so many years. It is still the cheapest diesel hatchback available in the market. & after all its the favorite of all the cabbies

The big question mark is the price at which it is offered - 3.82L ex. showroom Chennai in BS4 guise but no addition of features. The Vista QJD in Terra guise has about the same equipment as compared to the V2 DLS but is 50K higher

Even Indigo XL seems to be back as Indigo XD in BS4 guise.

Smart move by Tata. I bought virtually the same car (v2 Turbo DLG) and it was an awesome car in more ways than one. Quite powerful , kick of 2000 rpm turbo (like our famous national engine) and fuel efficient at the same time. So long as it is BS4 who cares? This car also has its own following and brand equity.I'm sure it will sell (only this model) of 2-3k units per month. IIRC the price I paid in 2006 was 3.86L ex-showroom for my car (in 68 bhp guise).
Curious how they BS4-ed it. A Diesel Particulate filter?

Atleast Indica Vista owners will be relieved that their car will not get the Taxi badge

As for teh cabbies in Himanchal/Punjab the cabies just did not like the Indica Turbo. So the Turbomax - fingers crossed.

What could be the proposition for the extra power in the old model Indica?

1. For the Cab industry: To tug a load of passengers for outstation trips from metro cities in the same comfort and pace of an indigo?
2. To consolidate the positioning of Fiat Engines as standard in the Vista / Manza i.e. They dont want to offer this engine with the Vista anymore

This is very confusing
71 bhp and BS4 points to a dicor engine. The same thing that was rolled out on the indigo CS ( there is no BS4 TDI indigo CS right now nor a TDI indica vista, since it was claimed the TDI engine could not survive BS4)
yet it clearly says IDI turbo intercooled engine ( even the 1405 cc is correct - dicor has less)

someone please have look under the hood of one of these please !

directinjection mentioned on another thread that there is a BS4 TDI, I think the same was also mentioned by akhilesh51. The Venture is planned to get the BS4 TDI so the Turbomax is probably the first one to test it :-)

I thought that all the 3 variants i.e NA, TDI and DICOR are 1396cc, but in the brochure the NA is mentioned as 1396 CC in BS3 guise and TDI at 1405 CC.

Why could they not have the Dicor/CR4 engine on this one?
Wouldn't it have served them better with the CS running on the same and since the Vista TDI was not upgraded to BS4?

they wanted a taxi market car, why launch the Vista at all.
Simple reason. Because they want both taxi and non-taxi markets.
And this is why different cars for both the markets.

Greenhorn, how different is this version from your Indica Turbo? Is it just a BS-IV engine variant of you beast or this is something entirely new?
