Well, I am from old school. I would rather buy a second hand Elantra at a fabulous price and drive it around with some slight modifications in the grill and HID and nice alloys. I am sure it'll still give the competitors a run for their money.

Planning for the year end: Mitsubishi Outlander or Ford Endy or if there is a chance for Toyota Fortuner.
Early waiting for Outlander though. :-)

Okay I am in a situation no one will be. I am a recent MBA grad, about to start working as a consultant with a kinda-hefty pay package. Across the current breed of cars, I can afford the mid-size sedans. So I was initially tempted by the SX4/Verna. Then my problems started.

My GF's got an admit for MS in the USA and she'll be leaving this July. So marriage plans are shelved till atleast Nov/Dec 2009. So what will I do with the sedan ? Better start saving for the Civic I thought. And instead, carry on with my P180, since my employer would be sending me to the US on a long term assignment in another 6 months.

Alto/Wagon R/Santro are too under-powered. Waiting times for Swift are the biggest turn-offs. The other cars dont appeal to me. So its back to square one.

Once we are back and ready to settle down, we are looking at a couple of cars. A premium hatchback (GP or the Jazz) and most prolly the Civic. Also in my mind is an SUV for off-roading and weekly travels. Might just be the fortuner/outlander.

Grande Punto

Definitely the Grande Punto - I hope they introduce the 1.3MJD in the 90 bhp VGT guise. I also hope that ABS and airbags are offered.

I just bought Cedia sports last month, so thinking about a new car is like eating a forbidden fruit. What the heck..as it is I am not in garden of Eden.
I guess my next car will be Accord. The speed with which Honda is replacing its cars, I think by the time I buy it will be 9th or 10th generation Accord.

Amtak: thats a good plan. I saw diesel Elantra, with booster, Pete's kit and Michellin PP2; of one of our members during our last meet. Its smoking. Easily touches 200kmph on highways. I guess he only spent a little more than a lac on this.

I would buy my next car probably after 5 years.

If SUV, then Safari VTT (If it is still in market)
If Sedan, then Ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCI or Fiat Linea (1.9 MJD), which ever feels better to me at that point of time.

Bought a corolla in april, and the very next day started thinking of my next car (not because of the corolla),I already have a 2003 santro xing.
If petrol cost escapes gravity of earth, then maybe replace santro with swift DDIS.Else keep santro and go for an SUV/MUV like scorpio/safari/innova.Already reading threads on the 3.very confusing.

Bought a Cedia this year so will stick to it for next 3-4 years.
For next car, looking at the petrol prices - definitely a hybrid !

If I had the money to splurge on a car now, my pick hands down would be a VW Passat.

My baleno will stay with me and otherwise am looking at a true VFM SUV which would be a Dicor 2.2 VTT. Right now though finances permit family doesn't toy the idea of a SUV at home.
