I think they are playing safe when they eye the Nano rival slot, but, their pricing is rivaling the Alto instead... the Nano will still be at least 50 grands cheaper for the base, & it is surprising spacious for a small car. To add on the Eon is more spacious than the Alto, which they need to consider when they design the car, & their A.S.S. hasn't been tested for the volumes & cost at the moment.

In short, their is lot to prove before seeking volumes.

Re: Renault India to launch 5 new cars in next 3 yrs

Renault Fluence facelift is spotted in Chennai by MOtorvikatan guys. Here are the pics:

I sincerely hope they launch the facelift soon, but what are they testing if it is all a fecelift? It seems that there is a new engine thrown in this time... a new petrol engine this time... God knows.

Re: Renault India to launch 5 new cars in next 3 yrs

They are taking their time considering I saw these cars in the factory in July of this year. The fact they are testing these indicates they are doing tests with a new engine/ transmission as opposed to the same old dCi engine.

Re: Renault India to launch 5 new cars in next 3 yrs

Renault as part of its strategy is to focus on India. Chages its structure to enable the dedicated teams to focus on a smaller number of short- and medium-term goals

Renault is changing its international structure to help drive sales growth in India and the Middle East, particularly Iran. Starting in September the Middle East India region will be separated from Renault's Asia Pacific region.

Renault expects China and India will become the world’s two leading economies within the next 20 years, carrying in their wake countries with strong growth potential such as Indonesia, Thailand and Pakistan.

Between now and the end of the company's current strategic plan in 2017, China and India "will represent close to 50 percent of Renault Group’s potential for growth – its overall highest.

Re: Renault India to launch 5 new cars in next 3 yrs

I saw some videos of the new Capture. That looks pretty much as urban as the Ecosport. It also has the new turbo charged petrol engine other than the regular K9K diesel. It would be great to see this product in India. But at the same time they need to make Duster more premium an entity by improving its quality.

Here is 4 minute review of the Capture from Carbuyer.

When i spoke to the Renault marketing folks, they said thatit would be too expensive. I guess we will get a rebadged Qashqai or simialr later

Is an upgrade or a facelift planned for the Scala? On the lines of the facelifted Nissan Sunny perhaps?

- So does it mean the twin strategy of Renault/Nissan re-bading would continue?
- Also if a re-badged Qashqai is on cards, surely I think the top end would go up to 22-25, much lower than Koleos.
- It wont make sense to have two product on the same price lines.
- Pretty much fighting it out with Yeti (as the Qashqai does globally).
- Again it means 15-20L OTR segment gets overlooked.

I do not know. I got this info during early April during the Fluence drive

Rebadged Qashqai was my own speculation, not any indication from Renault

Nissan's Qashqai internationally rivals the Suzuki's Sx4 S- Cross and Kia's Sportage.
Nissan would be keenly watching the acceptance of the S cross in the Indian market before they considering bringing the Qashqai.

IMO, Qashqai will not be rebadged as a Renault product.

Quite a possibility. Any of the international models from Renault have found success (in India) so far, and rebadged Nissan or Dacia seems to be the way forward for them. I think the Dacia Lodgy will be the next-in-line.

Renault Twizy spotted in Mumbai!

Spotted a Renault Twizy in South Bombay today driven by a wealthy-looking gentleman. The car looked extremely tiny when standing beside a Santro taxi and seemed just about spacious for two passengers. Yes, the car had doors too!

I am not sure whether it had red plates or white but What a cool car it is!!

Re: Renault India to launch 5 new cars in next 3 yrs

^On searching for the car on Zauba, it showed that the Twizy had reached Chennai in 2012. I am assuming the car was here for research and development purposes only. Now, in 2014, it seemed like it was being driven by a senior official of the company to work. Camera is ready for the next time I spot it
