God bless competition

Maruti definitely faces the heat from competition. A car launched in May 2009 celebrates anniversary in August 2010?

Interesting to see 86,400 units sold till now.

As a existing Ritz owner I actually miss some of the features like rear wiper, factory audio etc in my Vdi. In the absence of Zdi I didn't have the option either. If I were to buy my car this time I would have chosen the special edition for sure.

Loved my Ritz Vdi. Will surely envy the Emerald Blue colour, tilt steering and most improtantly rear wiper cum washer (this should be OE in all Ritz).

Maruti surely seems to be doing its best trying to fend of competition, after the SX4 royale now this.Expect more offers from Tata,Hyundai and Honda as they get challenged by the new entrants,

Ha ha ... i share your thoughts.

The moment you see an Anniversary edition or a Limited Edition, its a clear sign of that car loosing its sheen in the market.

Maruti needs one Full REVAMP.....!

Every car of theirs are showing age now.

Oh Genus? it was earlier Swift Glam and now time for Ritz.

i didnt like the swift glam ,it had beige interiors with silver inserts as in regular ones which was looking pathetic

Hope genus is looking good ,any ways it will get sold.

Why is Maruti celebrating anniversary now? the reason is September is the time where corporates, business men buy Automobiles as they need to show depreciation for evading tax.this is the time market is hot so you will find lots of discounts and special editions

Sounds like the ZXi minus airbags and ABS right? Costs ~50k less than the ZXi. Actually they should have given the extra goodies for free

The limited Edition is just 5K less than the ex showroom price of VDI with ABS

For reference.(all Bangalore prices)

Ritz VDI - 498835,
Ritz VDI + ABS - 536734
Quote:
Maruti Suzuki Ritz Genus VDi is priced at Rs 531410 (Ex-showroom, Delhi)
So it is like Genus - normal VDI = 67.5K extra.

Thats a hugeee amount. Is it worth it ?

I do not understand this 67.5k difference.

Normal Vdi - 516962 (ex-showroom Delhi)
Genus Vdi - 531410 (ex-showroom Delhi)

Without bringing ABS into equation in either of them, the difference is 14448 ex-showroom Delhi. The on-road difference will be slightly higher- 16k or so which I think is worth the money considering the additional features.

Are you considering dealer discounts if any? If that is the case I guess dealers may not be inclined to give a discount for special edition and that will make the normal Vdi more value for money.

No, its based on the current gen Wagon R platform.

Ritz and Swift share the same platform.

Normally these 'limited editions' are lame, but in this case it brings much needed features to the Diesel that are missing altogether from the lineup. It is a pity that Maruti feels the need to provide stuff like remote entry, rear wiper etc as a limited edition, when these are necessary features that many of their diesel customers would love to have.

I thought "Limited Edition" means a specimen with special features not offered on the regular model - does that mean the regular RITZ used to come with a "Radio and CD" and NO speakers?!?

And, boy,

"Genus" - what a name! (the term is used to denote the low-level of a structure in Biology!)

"Emerald Blue" - an oxymoron, because 'Emerald' is green...

So, what does an 'Emerald Blue RITZ Genus' signify???

I have nothing against you, adalanthae, or Maruti - but.... I remember reading something like this - 'As long as there are suckers, there will be cons!'..... he he he he

(No offense meant, please)
