Can some one confirm this? Launch so near?

we have almost all generations of the alto running side by side at different price levels.
so the new swift might be released along with the current swift at a higher price.
Not to forget WagonR, a best selling product nicely replaced by a better product, only to see the sales charts shooting up. Long waiting period gathering up for WagonR. Sure that the new swift is going to create longer waiting periods.

Got a call from Saboo Maruti (Hyderabad). I asked about new Swift. She said "We are expecting in 2 months - but no concrete news as of now". Either they are hiding the news to keep the sales running OR she was also reading this thread before the call.

With a launch as big and important as this, it would be nearly impossible to suppress the buzz all around. Spy pics, dealer reports, the works.

I dont think a couple of months is a realistic timeframe for the launch. Maybe early next year, or as per the earlier reports : H2 2011.

Launching the new Swift soon should not be a problem because Suzuki might already be picking up the new Swift made in India by Maruti. Issues could be bookings of present Swift & deliveries/stock clearance.

We didn't have any spy pics scoops of the Wagon R/K10/A* auto.

we did know it was coming, esp the new wagon R, but were in for a surprise.

Swift is already in a little danger (Figo?), also with so many cars coming out now and for next year as well. Although 2 Altos are in the same market right now: But same should not happen with Swift. Swift is expensive and is of a segment higher - 2 of them can damage the image of Swift. Only price can justify 2 Swifts running at same time. Higher price = competition with i20, Punto etc. More over with 2 Swifts : which one would continue on DZire? (2 DZires ?) - nope.
I think the upgrade would be applicable to DZire and Swift both. DZire would become even a hotter car with more space and hopefully better handling (longer wheelbase, wider track).

Too early to tell. BTW, Has the European Swift (the upgraded one) been launched in the market?
We are talking about Maruti here. Selling multiple generations of same model is what they have been doing for decades. If you count the M800 is still sold in non-bs4 cities, that is 3 gens of alto not 2 with alto and a-star. So, there is no surprises if it will do this with swift.
Everyone in this forum can see merit in your arguments, but as long as it sells maruti will keep flogging it.

Does the improved 1.3 DDIS point to 1.3 DDIS with VGT ? If yes, the new Swift is all set to become the Hottest Diesel Hatch for 2011 (for now)

No VGT but better performance and lower CO2 emissions, as in euro spec. The basic engine will remain mostly the same. Swift has launched today in UK in only petrol engine.

Better performance???? The power and torque ratings remain the same. They have tuned the engine for lower emission and hence better economy.

In the pic, the boot is extended outwards and the C-Pillar is almost at the same place. Looks like a sure shot increase in Boot space and a little in rear leg room. Reminds me of i20 type rear.

New Swift site in Japan:

??? ????

Considering that MUL's fast seller Wagon-R is replaced by the latest offering from Japan, we can expect the current Swift to be replaced with this new one.
