Monster Garage by activision is good.

There were two choices, IT or Auto. both are equally exciting. I took IT as bread earner and kept auto as hobby. Repairing and fiddling own, family and friends car on holidays since. So getting best of both worlds.

I did. I am more interested in camshaft phasing and valve lift technology.
I am also interested in the chassis development, specifically the design of crumple zones, etc. Would also love to work in Aerodynamics.

I actually had thought that I will join CAI ( Canadian Automotive Insititute ). Now CAI is called IICS ( International Institute for Canadian Studies ).
Could not make it because I could not appear at AIEEE exam which was necessary for me to enter into IICS/CAI.

Still I will be trying to be in that field in future. The chances are almost non existent, but I will be making an attempt.

Two things;
1. Be a test driver - BMW, Lambo, anyone listening??

2. Be part of Fiat-India's strategy team, else Automotive sales.

Its a little like eating ice cream. You might think eating ice cream 24-7 is good but once you start, then it's Hahaha time. Nevertheless, I've been doing this 8 years now. No regrets.

Hey can you elaborate on this. I took AIEEE in 2003.
Now that I am a qualified engineer from BITS, I am shocked to see this info here.

Would have given my right arm to join that.

WOW !!!!! How did I ever miss this thread ?

Ever since I was in school & just out of it, I dreamt of an automotive workshop. Applied to some Auto Engg School in Madras. ( My dad always thought - pehle qualification karo ) Rightly so...but me being as far removed from academics (interest wise) I never took that step

Well all that was a good 20-25 years back...

Then I wanted to take a Maruti dealership, in the early 90's - the "investment" on paper & off it was "quite different" meaning I had to make certain people happier & richer which my father would never do.

Then straight to now !! Was seriously considering a premium car dealership. The brand was wrapping up in Delhi & was looking for a new dealer & I thought I'd be able to wrap up this deal - BUT as luck would have it, someone RICHER (not necessarily smarter) got the deal in his pocket while I was still organizing $$$$$$$$$

So my love affair went sour - as did my dream (for now) TOMMOROW IS ANOTHER DAY

CHEERS

I can finally post in this thread

My dad has 3 tyre shops and he has founded and runs a garage equipment business. This company imports equipment from other countries like the US, Sweden, Italy, Germany, etc and sells them in India. Wheel Aligners, Tyre Changers, Wheel Balancers, Crash Repair Systems, Nitrogen Inflators, etc...

I started work today. I'm a management trainee. As the title says, I am first going to be trained properly. As of now, I am in the tyre shops. One on Double Road, one on JC road and one on RV Road.

I want to familiarise myself with the running of these tyre shops and then move onto the garage equipment business. The garage equipment business is so complicated, it sometimes intimidates me!!

i always wanted to make a career in automobiles
but the story is real sad..
bore ho jaaoge but sun lo ( dard share karne se kam hota hai )

bachpan se ghar se chhup maazines padhta thha
sabko mufat mein advice bhi deta thha ( consulting naturally aati thhi mujhe:P
amma kehti thhi padh le else driver hi banega
10th mein top maara coz papa bole splendor ko hata kar cbz dilaa doonga

12th mein padhai nahi ki iit nhi mila
biotech mila BIT mein jaana pada ( beggars are not choosers)
engg khatam ki software banane lagaa job interview mein ikon 1.6 aur turbo k funde maare

ek saal baad IIM AHMEDABAD nikala toh laga ki ab automobile company mein stategy banaunga. ( yahaan panel ko 2 stroke ka design se otto engine se avenger ka bhp tak bataya: torque aur bhp ko leopard elephant bana kar samjhaaya)

summers job k time recssion aaya kam car companies aayi
jo bhi aayi ( mahindra & renault (france separate from mahindra) liked my SOP shortlist di
mahindra: badtameej sa HR mujhe bahut attitude dikhaaya...main bhi kaun sa sharif thhaa wapas dikhaya
last mein world mein kise ek comapny ka naam lo jo ki according to u best car comapny hai
main bola ek kehna muskil hai sabki apni strengths hai..but he was adamant on just one ..toh maine bole merc ( aur kya mahindra bolta)..that was the final nail..kahani khatam..kasam khaayi life mein kabhi mahindra nahi kharidoonga ( ameer hua toh company khareed car unit mein aag laga doonga :P)

fir aayi renault france : poore college mein 10 shortlist. ek main bhi thha
interview kaafi achha chal raha thha..saalon ki autocar, overdrive kaam aayi
fir bola tu mechanical engineer nahi kya karega!! pata nahi unhe manager chahiye ya kuch aur

khatam hua yeh chapter monday ko jaaunga bankar life sciences ka consulant..spark plug ki jagah disprin bechne ki startegy banaunga

ab sochta hoon aage kyaa karoon??
yamaha suna 4 lakh de rahi hai pass kar sochta hoon chala jaaon
iim ahmedabad k lowest paid graduate ever ka ward mil jaayega but chalega
ek din itni yamaha bech kar dikhaaonga ki mujhe ek R1 de hi degi

On a serious note:
I never give up in life. the glory doesnt lie in never falling : but in rising everytime you fall

i m still looking for a career in this field : options hain
  • auto journo ( is hormazd around ya uska contact hai toh plss pass on)
  • private consultant but bina work ex assignemnts milna muskil hain (i'll start working for small suppliers)
  • job: agar kisi HR ko yeh samajh aaye ki car bechne k liye mech engineer hona compulsory nahi
doston aar help ho sake toh pm karna bataana agar koi lead ho in feilds mein...mere dil ka dar aaj fir jaaga hai

Would love to get exposure to Auto Technology in a major Auto Manufacturer and work

1.as a Auto Service Trainer
2.as a test driver

Tried applying a few years ago to the King Kongs of Indian Auto Industry but nothing happened.

I am a Chemical Engineer with close to two decades of work experience in Plant Ops and training but have a super-passion for automobiles and problem-solving
