I guess these are i-CTDi engines. And the way I understand, the diesel unit - 2.2L in Civic sometwhere abroad has got rave reviews, almost at par with their petrol engines. So sure there is something great to look forward to.

Hers is the MSN-UK article on the new Honda Civic to be launched in UK:

Honda Civic 2012 - undisguised - New Honda Civic 2012 - new undisguised photos - Photos - News - MSN Cars UK

Definitely looks inspired from the Insight from the front & has a 2.2L i-DTec engine with an output of 150 BHP.

Another, report, this time from Zigwheels on the new Civic that could be the one to be launched in India (minus the kit):

If Honda is releasing this car in India in 2012, shouldnt they be road testing this right now? Has anyone come across any spy shots of the test mule or are they going to delay the launch?

Found something interesting in CARDEEP's link (Thanks, mate!) for UK spec Civic, so uploading the picture here. It seems that the new Civic will have a flatter torque curve compared to the current one after 2000 RPM, and has better low end torque, starting from 1500 RPM. Does this mean we'll have excitement (hi revv) and nirvana (good low end torque and hence driveability) in the same package? Of course, these are diesel figures, and might be limited to UK spec hatchback only.

Has Honda shelved plans as of now to bring in the new CRV and Civic? They arent bringing the 2 cars to the Auto Expo 2012

Maybe they are waiting for the diesel mills to be developed and only then will they launch the 2 cars. Given the current Petrol Prices and mad demand for Diesels, its easy for a Petrol Civic and CRV to fail within a few months of launch.

This Torque curve is for Diesel version. The 1.8 Petrol version makes half the torque of what's shown in the chart.

Of late, we have come to expect sea changes between two successive generations of a same model, case in point being cars like Hyundai Verna and Honda City. Though Honda claims that this Civic is all-new, from the look of it, it doesn't seem to be significantly better than the existing Civic, both in exteriors and in interiors. In fact, the present Civic looks much better in most angles than the all-new Civic.

It's a known fact that the most contributing factor to the present-gen Civic's success in India was its styling. In that sense, I seriously doubt that the Indian customers will develop a liking to the all-new Civic. I hope I am proved wrong, but that is going to be really tough for Honda.

The new gen Civic could be easily mistaken to be a City from the front and the side profile. Its only the rear looks a different from City. The dashboard really looks out of place.
The current gen Civic when launched was a success because it was different from the car selling at that time. The exterior looks were great and the body style was low slung. The best part was the interior, just too good. And still it is a looker.
With the rising petrol prices and the looks of the new Civic, I don't think, it will set the sales chart on fire. The Cruze with its new 163 Bhp engine and oil burner under the hood will the best. Only with the 2.2 lt diesel engine, Honda can make the deal better, but the pricing will the key.

Using clues from the past, changes to the exterior have most often worked positively for the car! even the melting-face facelift of the Verna helpted its sales figures significatly.
As detailed in the previous posts, rising petrol prices is a dampner though!

Thanks for the updates Sid! I dont think they will be introducing the Sun-roof in the initial release itself. Yes, maybe during the facelift.

Also, are they considering getting the diesel variant?

2011 or the 9th gen Civic has been voted as the most disliked COTY in US by Fortune/CNN Money. Here is a link to that

Honda have gone back with the design of all new civic. The current gen civic sold because of its futuristic looks. The current gen civic still looks futuristic.
The new gen civic does not look like this and it has lost on its looks department and looks very similar to most other cars.
