It surely does not look that bad ! Like the Honda City Type 2 , the Civic also will be a tough model to replace. The New Civic debate reminds me of the 3rd Gen (?) City. Im sure if it comes with a DIESEL and a reasonable price tag it will sell in good nos. As some member had rightly said this is the Honda Altis .

Changes are only cosmetic ? I dont understand your point? Its a new generation model and its completely new !! They have simply tried to maintain the overall character of the car in terms of styling similar to what Tata did with the Indica and the new Vista, similar to what Ranger Rover does with its successive generations, similar to what porsche does to its sports cars, similar to what suzuki did with the new swift !!!

Looks boring but at least its better than the horrendous European Civic. With Honda's sales struggling in Europe this new Civic isn't going to do them any favors. Their only reply to the new generation small diesels being offered by competitors including the Koreans is an oversized 2.2 (lower efficiency, higher tax/insurance).

Hopefully they follow US Honda's footsteps and launch a better looking car with smaller diesels.

Is it just me, or does the all-new Civic borrow design cues from both the Verna and the Elantra/Sonata (maybe from the "Fluidic" theme altogether)?




The rear stance, the poise at the front three-quarters, the side profile all curiously match the "Fluidic" design. But mostly, the rear looks.

Front side quarter and the front itself resembles the City, which is not a bad thing.

I for one preferred the rear of the old Civic. That looked more classy, IMO.

All in all, not much impressed with the design of the new Civic. Honda's badge and super packaging should find it takers though. That, and a new diesel heart under it's hood.

The pictures of the new civic posted by sid earlier in this thread are different from these with respect to tail lights and fogs in the front bumper. I was refering to these changes.

The Accordish tail lamps (on the dicky) looks good. Infact I think the design will grow on people. If only, they could redesigned the ICE. The buttons arranged in the '+' shape dont look all that cool. I wonder how the backlighting will be. Also, hope that we Indians get the bluetooth and the diesel motor in it.

Well as per news on various global websites Honda is planning to show off the 1.6 diesel at the 2012 Geneva show i.e. on the 8th of March. Thats a pleasant suprise since I thought its at least a year away.

A 1.6 diesel Civic and a 2.2 Accord/new 7 seater CRV will help Honda regain their Indian market share with a bang!! They are finally paying heed to what customers want to buy rather than what Honda wants to sell, better late than never.

I understand that lots of ppl have lots to say about the styling of the new Civic, but the truth is that if they launch it with the 1.6 Diesel, they have a winner on there hands in India. I assume the delay in launching it here has a lot to do with the Diesel mill not being production ready. Now with the official unveiling in March, i get a feeling we could well see the car in India by mid year. What say guys ??

No doubt, it's a blown up city. The rear is just like old school Camry , now that bench mark set by the current civic too tough to better.

Well that's good if Honda does it sooner , with additional duties/taxes likely to be levied on diesel cars, this could only lead to work in favor of petrol cars again possibly...

The new front design does look good IMHO . However they could have done better with the rear .
The current gen civic looks so good from all the angles , that this one will take time to settle down .

However plonk in a diesel heart and price it competitively and the last thing people will be complaining about is the styling .

LOL. Very pertinent observation. Case to the point is the Altis Diesel which is not exactly setting the sales charts on fire.

The derriere looks pretty upright a.k.a higher GC. The rear three fourth of the car gives a Cityeque impression. Not sure if the same appeal to old Civic owners. The interiors with its HUD appears to be a lift from the Beamer. Wonder if the AT would sport an i-drive look alike.
