A few days back I caught the last 5 mins of 5th Gear on Discovery Turbo. They were taking the new civic for a test drive. It looked like the picture below. Unfortunately I missed the part where they would have said which model it is.
Guys any idea whether this is what the 2011 civic will look like, or is this say a 2010(or older) model considering the episode of 5th Gear that aired might be dated?

The next gen civic would be smaller than the current generation as the civic has really grown in size over the years and along with several companies like volkswagen honda too would reduce the size of its next gen models.

The Civic is supposed to be smaller than what was planned earlier. Not smaller than current gen.

Regarding VW, if you look at the upcoming Jetta, its not based on Golf and is huge catering to what people needed and to compete with Civics/Corollas.

VW has decided to give bigger cars and skimp on equipment level and hence compete better on price terms with Japs.

Absolutely agree. The link was for the article mentioning about the delay in 9th gen Civic.

There is nothing wrong with the 1.8 or 2.0 engines, of course they can get more fuel efficient and of course a diesel won't hurt its chances of being a hit.

Also, they might use the 2.4 on a Si and Type R.

I don't know what Civic might look without those masks and all, but I'm waiting for this car and desperately want it to get launched. Good looks (always expected from Honda) and a free revving engine with more than 130 bhp is all I want.

Today, I sold my NHC Gxi 2005, and most probably would buy a new car by March 2011. Keeping my fingers crossed and praying that this Civic gets launched before that.

@Sid: excellent scoop....

Even I found the car having a very striking similarity with the ANHC front on. The grill looks like they are borrowed from Accord. Side on, I felt like it resembled the Vento. Was it only me, or did somebody else also find it similar?

Well, honestly, they don't really need to. This looks like a subtly freshened up Civic rather than an 'all new' one. In fact, the interiors don't even need to be touched! Even another 10 years down the line, they would be great!

This Civic looks like the US spec variant. Expect the South Asian civic to be slightly different in terms of looks.

Interior Pic of the Hatch

Heres the spied interior pic from World Car Fans of the Hatch Version of the Civic. The same dash could be carried into the sedan as well.

Looks like the Civic is all set to do a "Corolla" now. You will remember the long discussions we had when the Altis was launched, and how similar it looked to the outgoing generation. I'd even shot a birds-eye view of both cars and it was very difficult to spot any difference. Fact is, the Altis is merely an evolution of the previous Corolla. Now, Honda's walking down the same road...I'm certain the terrific market response to the Altis (internationally) had something to do with the decision. Saves the Big T & H a whole lot of $$$ in R & D.

If Honda can push these benefits to customers in terms of pricing, nothing like it. They should go Toyota way in terms of pricing too or even better.

Another minor observation is that, 9th civic has center of B-pillar blacked out using plastic panel (like in current City/Jazz) instead of stickers!

@suhaas307. I agree with you in general. But if Honda wants to retain WOW factor on this car, they better put mighty engines as standard. Or atleast bring Type-R variant.
