I showed these pictures to one of my friends who owns the current Civic and this made him really happy! He proudly exclaimed that his car is still looking new and wouldn't depreciate much

What's wrong with this design other than it is a mix of current Civic and City?

There is nothing wrong with the design other than that it resembles City. There is no exclusivity as in the case of current gen civic. There is no exterior similarity between both City and current gen Civic. So some one paying 15 lacs expects some exclusivity. The next gen looks very similar to current gen City, so many people are not happy with it. But I am OK with new design.

Just have a look and check out the similarity.

Frankly after lowering my expectations, nowadays the 9th gen Civic does not look so bad after all. Yes it is nowhere close to the 8th gen. Its like when you have reached the summit, the next step is down.

Some nice pictures @Bluevolt has posted of both the cars.

Agree. I don't find anything wrong with the new Civic's design. It may not be youthful as the outgoing model, but looks quite elegant nevertheless. Happy that Honda did not do a VW and make the Civic a grown up City.

I own an ANHC but I still don't like it. For me, it's that boring - no - downright ugly back which make it look as if it was smashed from behind. Front's all right but can't stand that back (reminds me of the old gen Camry). Maybe it's their strategy to improve on something with the facelift later on.

PS: Man! those are ugly alloys!

Seriously, is there a way to provide a feedback to Honda before they launch this in India? Since it's still some way off in the future, why not we T-BHPians have an online poll and send it across to Honda India/APAC? I strongly believe T-BHP is a community that counts, and Honda is known to have made changes to their designs for the Asian market.

I think they have already changed the tail lamp design in China as per an earlier post from ShuvC.

The 2012 Civic has some cool features like the EcoAssist button and instrument cluster backlighting color change (from blue to green) if the car is being driven economically.

Re: India bound 2011/12 Honda Civic ? EDIT : Clean pictures on pg. 19

All the discussion on Honda’s future (in India) is based on the City, but I guess a lot depends on this new Civic. This is one segment which will have loads of activity in coming months, and how well the Civic is received will be critical for Honda. Even though exteriors are a bit less exciting (comparing to current Civic), I feel Honda got a winner here.

THe Civic that may be India bound (i.e. based on European version of the Civic) is spotted testing in London. Here is Autoexpress, UK Report on the same:

There are multiple engine options for the Civic in UK, including the diesel... lets hope the diesel makes to India.

What is wrong is - and this may be a bitter pill to swallow for Honda enthusiasts - is that it resembles its arch nemesis - the Toyota Corolla Altis. This after a redesign? tsk tsk

Is it just me or this car actually has a flat floor at the back? (no tall transmission tunnel). That would be awesome!

This is not something specific for the 2012 Civic. If I remember right, even the current Civic has this almost flat rear floor. A major plus indeed!

Apart from it looks like a mix of the City and the Civic, the thing I don't like is, in no angle does it look like the next gen model. At least like the current gen Civic at least. It looks like the Civic has taken a step backward! Sigh :(

Even the current Civic and the City have a almost flat floor, so its not really surprising. And whats with the door pad design! After seeing the design bits of each and every component of the next gen Civic, Why do I feel like this ??
