India bound 2011/12 Honda Civic ? EDIT : Clean pictures on pg. 19

Pics courtesy KGP/worldcarfans/edmunds insideline

Ok..OK..ok, this should be in the international automotive scene..but finally today we get to see some proper shots of the all new 2011/12 civic that will come to India by mid 2011/fall 2011.

Taken in the US, the front and rear ends may only be slightly different in the US spec and ASEAN/Jap spec civic, but the side and upper front/rear profile will be identical to the one seen here. And its evolutionary, and dare I say its a bit more conservative as compared to the new Hyundai avante.

The edmunds insideline article says

Quote:
This next-generation Civic will be smaller than the current Civic, though that's hard to gauge from these photos. We can see is the new small window a-la the Fit, immediately behind the A-pillar; a strong kink in the C-pillar; a sweeping character line on the lower panels and a more pronounced beltline. And while we have no shots of the interior-- yet-- we can see through the window that some manner of over / under gauges remain just like the current Civic and the Honda CR-Z.
See for it and leave comments.

It looks bigger than the present one and also does seem to have certain design elements from the City.

Finally Some Shots !

Well done Sid. Finally we have some shots of the next gen civic ! For me this is the most imp launch and i cant wait to see what the car looks like without the camo.... It does have a city like front end styling and overall the car does look evolutionary, something like what toyota did with the corolla and corolla altis. I tend to agree with sid wrt to the Avante, its way ahead in terms of 'Next Gen' styling.

The high placed digital speedometer stills seems to be there which is the most important bit!

Nice Catch!!!
The Front door is larger and driver sits further away from the Engine/A Pillar. The C Pillar extends further away giving it a more bulky look. Rear reminds me of Optra/Cruze i.e. Bulkier and muscular.

New civic will be launched globally in 2011, it might come to India only by late 2011 or early 2012. So, if you are willing to wait that long then it surely will make a good buy, but the present gen Civic is also a very good car.

The wheels seem huge and the design seems to be carried forward from the current Civic. Not really a revolutionary departure that the existing Civic was compared to the earlier gen Civic.

Front & side profile looks very City-ish. Rear is very Optra-ish. Based on these pics, I am unimpressed. I guess what will matter most is what's under the hood.

Its difficult to make out how the new gen Civic will look with all this camouflage

IIRC, I thought the launch of the 9th gen Civic has been pushed back a year as the higher ups were not quite happy with it. It was sort of back to the drawing boards.

I am surprised a testing mule so early.

The news of delay came long back in April. The model has also been moved to the archives page in Honda Japan website meaning the new one is not far away. 2011 debut looks likely

Doesn't look good to me ... Current one is classy. Its early to comment but it looks more like new city from front. If its the case then it will lose its charm for sure.

All about Hondas are engines. They have always led the Japanese stronghold for best small petrol engines, the title of which has been under threat only recently due to the likes of European turbo-charged missiles like the VW TSI, Fiat Multi-Air T-Jet etc. I am sure Honda won't sit quiet and the Civic is their reply to these new breed of engines. As for design, its nothing spectacular like the Hyundai Elantra replacement. It appears to be an evolution of present generation but relatively understated and proportionate from the side view that's visible. However, one big concern is the frontal blind spots which appear to be further magnified due to the A-pillar occupying a major chunk of windscreen and door joint at the bottom which is lot more compared to the present generation which in itself suffers from the same problem.
