Nano at EMI of Rs 1,892; Tata asserts safety - NDTV Profit

This is for seven years(not sure which trim). Don't know how this compares to other competitors. Members can you share some data in that regard.

This ad was there in the newspapers as well. As with alladsof this nature, this will be for the lowest trim without doubt.

But one thing is certain that Nano is available for TD and if one books it, is available within 2 months.

Yep! Saw the ad in yesterday's newspaper. But dont think they have mentioned the downpayment ! or did I miss it? This EMI looks so cool.

I guess for M 800, the EMI should be around 4-5K if a loan amount for 80% of the on-road price is taken for 5 years [ @ 10% interest ?]. No where near the Nano. clap:

In 'Gujarat Samachar' newspaper, there was an ad yesterday stating rs. 21k as down payment and rs. 1900 EMI.

I think it is for the CX model. I remember seeing this ad in yesterday's paper.

PS: I now have a NANO in my building.

Interesting! something one would pay for a Bullet C500 or so.

IMHO this would have generated a lot of excitement a year back, but Tata did the wrong thing by doing that "limited bookings, indefinite waiting" act and condescending attitude.

Even if it is a 1 lakh car or 1.5 lakh car, people are still paying for what they get, and the company is not doing the customer any favor by selling them the car. They are still "customers" and expect to be treated like customers.

Can we please concentrate on the topic here. Lets evaluate the other options we have in the market for a buyer in that segment.

ALso I read it some years back that the interest rates charged on a two wheeler will be higher as compared to a car. In that case what will be the EMI for a bike when compared to the nano.

I thought the topic is about the Tata Nano being offered at an EMI of around Rs.1800, so the comment is about that. The topic is not about what are all the options available at an EMI of 1800.

Ok, if we should talk about other options, then IMHO the *best* option at this price point is a used Maruti 800. At least you can rest assured that it will not burst into flames. And no one says "Yuck" when you drive out. And every other mechanic shop can repair most things in the car (except the MPFI parts like ECU).

Not a fair thing to say there have been plenty of city's that have burst into flam also a few i10's. Have seen a smoking Ritz, if its not their fault that means an external force is at play something all these car had in common if not then its coincidence.

Rest assured there will soon be a zillion nano's about and if there is really a problem with the car, TATA will be sued to kingdom come. In the technical side TATA uses specialists such as BOSH so we cant blame it on low quality of technical know how.

@ Airbender: Well said!

Well its exactly about that. Today If I exactly have 2 Lakhs and I absolutely want a new car, its the only option available to me on 4 wheels.

An option which is based on a platform that is 3 decades old. An engine which doesn't anymore qualify to be BS-IV and MUL couldn't care less about. Its already been relegated to the dustbins of history. Compared to M800, the Nano is an engineering marvel, a concept that the whole auto industry worldwide considers a paradigm shift.

Also a Nano seats 4 people much more comfortably than a 800. If you haven't seen it, please go check it out. The AC in 800 is less said the better. But in Nano its much better. Not Merc S Class standard but much better than competitors in its class and a class above.

As already stated by ajai_dev lot of other cars have had that issue. Are you aware exactly what number of Nano's have burst into flames and what is their percentage of the total Nano's out on the roads. If not, then please don't rely on hearsay!
As about design, its a personal choice and always said "beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

And please remember these roadside mechanics do more harm than good. If you believe in them so highly, why don't you take your Fiesta to them compared to the A.S.S

So please get your facts right before you spout ill against a product that you are prejudiced about.

Cheers

^^ Well said MileCruncher. If I plan to buy an economical 4 wheeler that saves me from sun/rain and provides me a better safety than a 2 wheeler, I would definitely go for Nano. Also, if there is a need for second car, strictly meant for city drive (home-office and groceries kind of use), Nano is the best option in many many aspects.

[On "yuck" part] IMO, I would choose to "yuck" against Ritz first !

Prem.

should i sell me 10 years old zen which clocked 55 k on odo and go for a tata nano. i am already spending about 12k annually on its mantainance

Please remember, the Nano will not be as peppy as your Zen. Rest is your choice.

Unless you have a very strong reason to sell your Zen, please dont.
I'd assume you would have kept it in a well maintained state.

Apart from a 'new car' feel, driving a Nano will nowhere come close to the pleasure of driving a Zen.
