"General Motors India (GMIL) plans to launch the Chevy Aveo in early ’06. The Aveo, in its hatchback and saloon versions, will hit the roads before the launch of the Spark (a Matiz look-alike) which the US auto major, GM, also plans to launch in India."

2006 car buyers and bike buyers are gonna be mad at what to buy now.

And how many of you would like the Matiz/Spark to reenter?

Surprisingly, this thread has not caught the interest of too many BHPians. Maybe because GM India has been crying out loud about a hatch since 3 years...and we havent seen any so far?

Or Maybe the Aveo just isn't exciting enough :)

I had talked with GM dealer in pune who told me that Aevo will be launched somewhere around March end/April
It will be good if they can launch it before March

Also Spark is due somewhere in 2007
A lot of Matiz owners are head over heals happy with their car (including my dad) & will love to replace it with spark

The whole of India has seen many "camouflaged to attract" testers....Ford had no such teaser and their car is out. Testing times for GM, indeed!

Just spoke to GM Dealer in Mumbai..like Adya33 said,even the dealer told me March 2006 is launch of Aveo..he didn't have any idea about the Spark though.

i wont say anything about this....GM thinks they can take their time launching a car and expect people to accept it....

Overdrive mag also has details about aveo. I guess GM will finally launch it. Hopefully it will not be another Fabia

GM was close to aquiring the Daewoo plant near Delhi that is ready to pump out Matizes. After they lost it, they are back to square 1 now.

Its time they stopped Corsa production and bring i n Aveo as the corsa we have here is one or two generation old.

News corsa? I saw this in a mag and took pix using mobile.
This corsa is made in egypt and is 15cms longer and 4cm wider than our indian corsa. Its got a 1600cc, 101bhp engine.
