I personally love the Cruze and everything about it. I hope this move helps push its sales charts higher.

Like Aveo in the its segment, I don't see any USP for Cruze-P in its segment. I would very interested to know how many actually leave the showroom.

Any chance Chevy would launch an petrol AT variant? That would add a very good option for city driving.

The introduction of Petrol Cruze would be interesting. From my understanding of buying patter of Cruze, it appeals mostly to those who are hungry for power (no PUN intended). Even though the engine is 1.4 turbo charged, not sure with what segment it would be competing; 1.4-1.6 or 1.7-1.8 or above.

mid november also launched in china

hi
mid of november also 1.6t cruze will be launched in china

The Chevrolet Cruze has become an exceptionally popular compact sedan in China
and is giving other compact sedans, such as the Ford Focus, a run for its money in China.
It could be that the Cruze’s adverts which featured Michael Scofield from the hit show Prison Break
(which was never actually aired in China, but gained a cult following on the internet),
thanks to Scofield’s prison break style advert where he is being pursued through
a city by the usual goons in trucks and helicopter, the Cruze has become a big hit –
in September alone it sold 17,300 units.
The addition of the Buick Excelle XT in 1.6T form earlier this year kick started GM’s
turbo days in China, that 170bhp 1.6T engine is now getting transfered into the
Chevrolet Cruze to further its big winning sales formula in China by punting
it to those who really wish to be Michael Scofield as he pretends to escape
from bad guys (Traffic Police) and goons (Cheng Guan). The Cruze Turbo will be
sold in China initially with a 6 speed manual gearbox to attract petrol heads,
but will likely introduce an auto version sometime in the not so distant future,
pricing is expected to start at around the 150,000rmb to 160,000rmb marker.
The interior of the turbo Cruze seems to have been updated over the regular model,
and also the exterior has been updated; fresher alloy wheels taken from the
North American version of the Cruze seem to give it a much more powerful stance.
The launch date has been set as November

I dunno what GM is waiting for. Altis and CIvic are not hot in the market anymore. The market is begging for a stylish 12 lakh sedan.

I just hope they dont launch the horrible 1.8 NA petrol engine.

@Ajay, how do you know its the 1.4T?

Slightly OT. Cruze is indeed becoming extremely popular in China. Check this chinese Ad for cruze where drivers create a huge pac-man set and drive the cruze around it.

Nice Scoop there!!!

I had decided to go for the T-Jet some time around March-April 2011, and now this comes along.... Nice to be spoilt for choice, that too between Turbo Petrol varients!!

Can't wait for further news / reports on the Petrol Cruze.

Anyone has any update on the launch dates and pricing (between 9.5 - 10.5 ex-shoroom would be really exciting)??

could you see if it was manual or auto? would anyone know whether they'd launch an auto. I somehow think they'll only do manual to tap the lower price point but one can always hope.

Bring it on Chevy ! You guys need a petrol also to sustain in the market. Get some share from petrol sales too. Not sure why have they delayed it so much.

And I guess turbo petrols give a batter mileage compared to NA engines?

Wow notice the roof antenna on the Cruze in the Chinese Pacman video. It looks like audi. Can we get the same thing done on our cruze?? Would love to have this.
