right on, Ananth, my error.

I do think that they will call it the Aria, too much puiblicity has already been done under this name, so it would not be worthwhile deviating at this stage.

They may not have put the Aria lables on just to not make it too obviously noticible though they have been running about without clothes since the last many months. Anyways post the Auto expo in Jan it made no sense to hide the looks as all who attended the show in Delhi had already seen it.

I think it is actually going to work in their favour that a lot of people have got to see it and most have fairly +ve comments about it.

That is a good news, awaiting GTO's trademark review.

Hope GTO compare the ARIA with Xylo, Innova, Captiva and CRV in a newly added section in the test drive report :-).

The third row is only for 2 children.

Here are some photos. The car has a CBE Temp Registration, but strangely had no Aria badging!!
This is the same car that I had seen on Race Course two weeks ago. Last week, got to see a maroon Aria on the Trichy highway near Sulur Airbase.

Hope you pointed him to the correct link (on Team-BHP) to get his input from

No, but seriously, I'm not buying auto-mags what with finding all the happening news right here. Waste of money.

+1 well, not exactly. I would like a comparison of the Aria with two vehicles only (to begin with, say).

1) Toyota Innova - Hopefully, this would be (price-point wise) the direct competition
2) Tata Safari - Just to understand how much better (again, hopefully) the Aria is wrt Tata's previously most expensive mostly private passenger vehicle. Praying that the ride is as good, but with better handling.

Looks good from the outside. Will have to see how it compares to the Innova on the inside.

+1.

I too have all but stopped buying auto mags. Normally I used to buy anywhere between 6-10 issues each year. For the past year I have just bought couple of issues. That too once when I had to travel day time in a train.

Oct11, launch would be just before Diwali - right time for those who want delivery by Diwali, but it might be too short notice for 17th Dussera?

It is a bit too late in the season i feel, they did something similar for the Safari 2.2, but this time it is even later.

I think the best time to go for this would be Feb 2010.

They may have some introductory pricing to get people to go for it earlier.

I guess the only real question that remains is the pricing, specs, and features are mostly know - though which spec/feature in which variant at what price would be interesting,

Also am anticipating a 0-100 timing close to 13 sec - like the fortuner and endy - lets see.

Infractions: 0/3 (12)

nice pic of the pale blue Aria
the Aria branding etched on the chrome strip is clearly visible.
it looks quite long - is it about as long as the Innova or longer?
how is the rear most seat - with that fore-shortened rear overhang could there be an issue of headroom in the last row?
somehow the rear bit looks inspired to an extent by the new CRV.
the tyres look nice and big and purposeful.

I am sure it will be a good workhorse and if the pricing is right im sure it will give the Innova and Xylo a run for their money. I hope they dont start pricing it higher than the top end Safari because that could be a recipe for disaster. They should follow the same logic they followed in the case of Manza pricing for this Aria to be a success.

I hope that Tata Motors have been able to create a confidence inspiring fit, finish and electric/electronic bits in the Aria - the way they've leaped ahead with their efforts on the Manza and Vista.

Saw an Aria at Raghuleela mall vashi right next to the Auto expo. It was a Maharashtra registered vehicle in Maroon red. Is there any chance it may be on display at the expo?

Finally a date of launch. That's good news for a lot of guys waiting here.
Hopefully, all these years of testing has resulted in something really good.
I wish them all the luck.

Sidgo7:

Nice scoop. I believe during the auto expo they were talking about hill holder assist function as well. By the way will this feature be included in the topmost version?

The list is quite long. Wonder how would they be able to price this between 12-14 lacs. Keeping fingers crossed.
