Awesome pics again ! My efforts to reach the Pune dealer were thwarted by the mess made by the Ganesh immersion process revelers !! tomorrow though i will have the pleasure of seeing this new baby myself !

however now that the sun roof is optional my wife is insisting on picking up the asta with a sunroof ! earlier she was happy that the asta was not available without one ! but now i HAVE to spend on the sunroof ... no options for me i guess grrrrrr

So no magna AT? Pricing for AT models IMO is on the higher end and I guess Hyundai made a mistake and have left the field open for Astar AT at a much lower price point.

Sun roof - yeah! After the initial euphoria ceases, make a note how many times you get a chance to open it. I got the sunroof as it was mandatory on the gen 1 Asta AT (yup - mine becomes 'so' gen 1 from today)

This i10 no doubt looks better than the previous one. Good job Hyundai. It has bolder look and an aggressive stance now.

Maybe, Hyundai should have done better justice to the Verna Transform.

IMO, Hyundai wants to launch Magna AT later, at a price on par with A-Star AT (previously it was priced about 40K higher than A-Star), and wants to create a 'separate news' on that.

I guess was a much needed upgrade for Hyundai's best seller especially after all the Maruti launches over the past 2 years. Love the front end treatment. The rear looks unchanged to me and what is the use of a heated OVRM?

This is my first post on the forum.

We were looking for a car for my wife since last 1-2 months. Last week visited all 3 dealers in Pune - Sanjay, Kothari, and Garve. All of them told us that they are not accepting any new bookings since new version of i10 is due on 23rd Sep. Nobody new the price.
Out of 3, Kothari came up with a scheme - We can book the i10 Sportz A/T at the current on-road price (no discounts) and that they will protect the price when the new i10 gets launched. Thought for a while and gave 10K booking amount to Kothari on Sunday.

I really appreciate the fact that Hyundai has not just given a cosmetic change to the i10, but has also given an improved heart and equipped it with convenient features like heated OSRVM with built in turn indicators ( which is a first in segment feature ) , along with bluetooth music system and height adjustable driver's seat.
Competitors would certainly react with new versions / facelifts for their existing offerings, and we could get to see more and more first in segment features. Long live the competition!!

With the increase in competition in its segment, hyundai has been real quick to respond. The new feature list should tick al the relevant boxes. A change from the times when cars for export were much better specced than their Indian versions. I dont think there is any change between the export and the indian versions now. just goes to show that even a manufacturer like hyundai with all the goodwill it has earned cannot afford to be complacent.

Everything seems great for the new i10 but give me one reason why people would not buy the i20 Sportz instead of the i10 Asta by paying a little around 20K more. The features are almost same except airbags and ABS(Many dont care about safety features in India.I DO!!). If they go for loan there will hardly be any difference in the EMis. I wonder!!!!

@pancham - I always maintained that price overlaps between 2 models of the same manufacturer leads to confusion among buyers - especially if the buyer goes by ' i want to get something which cost X lakhs'. Not a problem for the buyer who looks for a specific set of features.

Expect the i20 to be upgraded soon. The i10 now has parking sensors, bluetooth and the new Kappa2 VTVT engine.

These will find their way soon into the i20 as well.

I can't see them selling the i10 with an upgraded engine and leaving the larger and heavier i20 with the older engine for long.

What would one think of when comparing i20 Sportz and i10 Asta?
i20 Sportz has got a driver airbag, no ABS, no height adjustable drivers seat, no bluetooth supported audio, no rear wiper and so on. Plus feels underpowered.

i10 has got all. i20 is bigger though. i20 has better looks. Looks more premium.

So one would choose i20 sportz if he/she simply wants a premium feel without consideration to the above mentioned differences. If one thinks about what he/she gets for the amount he/she pays, then i10 asta it is(Safety features aspect too).

But if a buyer simply wants to buy a car at a specified price point, and if he/she doesn't know/worry/bother about features and differences then certainly he/she would be confused.

And i have got a feeling that most such buyers would go for i20 sportz just because it is a bigger car, some interesting features like cooled glove box, MID etc. No offense meant here, just my opinion/thoughts about a buyer's line of thinking.

One doubt: Does the pricing of i10 Asta make an i20 Sportz look VFM? (Overall) If so, should i10 Asta have been priced better?

Considering the Indian car buyers' mentality even I feel the i20 Sportz will have an edge over the i10 Asta. The problem here is too many variants of i10 and i20 which is causing the overlapping of the prices. we cant blame Hyundai here for pricing. Here majority of the buyers are more worried about "how big the car is" and "how premium it feels" rather than safety features. A large proportion dont believe that airbags are of any help in Indian road.
